Does anybody find when there laying down relaxing or so that sometimes the upper body or arms suddenly jerk like you've had a shock
Upper body jerking: Does anybody find when there... - Ataxia UK
Upper body jerking

yeah, but not so often now. My arms often spasmed in this way, along with many other parts of my body, including my back. Not just when relaxing, but more so when I was relaxing and tired. I see a physio twice a week and it happens much less frequently now as at the end of each session he stretches and sort of massages my arms and hands, stretches my legs and massages my neck, and from time to time my,back. I do try to do stretches myself but I can't manage to do them to the same degree that,he does.
I used to quite regularly but I have stopped now : )
not when i relax but all the time when awake, love to get to bed so it stops Vxx
I get this, mine is especially bad in my left arm, it is an involuntary movement. Taking a drug similar to carbamazepine has really helped reduce this.
My daughter will mainly at night when she's sleeping. Oxcarbazepine Has helped this during the day.

And there was me thinking only I did that!
A physio told me the limb jerks are the brain testing limb still there. Cure for me is exercise.
HTH
Ive heard that before makes sense when you think about it this is a bloody horrible illness you never know when or what is going to stop working properly
my leg jerks sometimes when I'm relaxing in bed,I was told by my neurologist that this can happen with ataxia? The massage & stretching sounds good, I think I might try that.
