Can anyone help with this pip thing, I have been awarded higher rate mobility as I can hardly walk at all without support worker, but lower rate living. I understand it works on a points system but I needed to tell a complete stranger my toilet probs, eating probs getting around issues etc
I was on higher rate for life when it was dla

I believe the higher rate mobility entitles you to a mobility vehicle if required whilst the lower rate living allowance in the assessor opinion m Evans you can look after yourself around the home and you do not require a full time cater. If you disagree with your assessment you can appeal but they warn you that your payments can be reduced as well as possibly of it being increased. It is definitely designed to make things harder especially if you have been used to DLA.
Hi Clive, yes PIP is all about points and they give you points or none for each individual activity..ie..cooking and preparing food...dressing..bathing...drinking eating just to name a few..and it's wether you can or cannot or need help doing these things, overall the number of points you need to score for daily living is 12..Yes toilets and eating probs all have to be included,it seems maybe you did not score the number of points they require...I have just been awarded top rate on daily living and mobility....
It's unusual that I have had a care package and support for all these things. OK maybe I didn't explain a lot about toileting and washing dressing etc but this was just some stranger who I didn't know and wasn't prepared to give her those embarrassing details. Surely they would see I had a care package in place and call my care manager , gp instead of expecting me to go in tithese things. I'm sure people may say it's just a man thing not telling a stranger my health issues😃😃😃
Sorry to say,but these things are required now, because you are being completely reassessed, any passed info is disreguared and any care plan from what was before P.I.P. is as well. Your not giving them the full situation on how you cope with daily living has made an impact on your reward of P.I.P...all these assessments are done by people we do not know! because they have to be impartial, your GP may be considered otherwise!!!!
