I have just been awarded PIP at the standard rate. What does this mean as far as Motability is concerned? Its just we were waiting to see if I could get a car through this scheme, but it appears not, is this the case? so will have to use the extra money provided on taxis

Hi peterallison

Only if you are awarded the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP are you eligible to join motability.

Hi Peter.

I get the higher rate on Disabled Living Allowance, I was over 65 when they changed it to PIP, so remain on DLA....... so I guess you would have to get the higher rate on PIP🤨

PIP lower rate gets half price road fund license (car tax disc). Not retrospective and refunded in whole months. Apply now. Bizarrely for a government department the DVLA ask for your bank details so they can refund you without issuing a cheque. Saving someone money.

Without part 2 PIP no Motability lease so do it yourself. As you have said you've sorted it I am writing this for others.

Thanks.

My partner and I went and got a pre reg (2 miles on the clock) Toyota Aygo yesterday, saving over 2K on a new one, and over a 4 year period works out a lot cheaper than getting a Motobility one, and its ours at the end of the day. My dad had a motability car for a lot of years, 1985 until his passing, last year

Hi Peter, I applied to be reassessed for my PIP mobility and to my horror they've reduced my daily care to standard and have upheld their original decision for the mobility which is standard. I'm fuming

I do not know how the system works, as for getting the max points for the mobility part of PIP. I think that a lot do not deserve it, incl my dad, altho he had it in a different time, (1984) and he said, he just seemed to be at an age (86) where they forget you. In this age of saving money where they can, they do, albeit to the detriment of those that need it.

I am a cynical old sod
