Their aim is to expand Airways with ssalbutamol, usually followed by saline to help get mucous up and to deliver certain antibiotcs

If your coughing up green stuff you need to provide a sputum sample to the GP...and you should probably have a broad spectrum antibiotic for a few weeks

Unfortunately anyone with a respiratory condition will be *more* vulnerable (with how much more depending on severity of condition and what the condition is) to respiratory infections... but my GP and respiratory team have told me: white we aren't bothered with, Yellow we maybe would give you antibiotics, Green you will need antibiotics, if it's red/brown.... its serious and you need antibiotics without delay (even going to A and E if required)

Hi to you,I have bronchial asthma/ Bronchitecti was only a fortnight old and had bronchitis that was 78 years ago,15 years ago they gave me a nebuliser,it made me have the shakes. I am also disabled and walk with a wheeler/sticks I try to move as much as I can because if one does not use it one loses it. The nebuliser with the ventolin did not always clear my lungs, then a locum Dr I saw whilst in hospital told me to use a teaspoon of salt in an egg cupful of water and put that in the nebuliser as saline will clear your tubes and that's is what. I do,it does help, you can get saline sachets from prescription and no shakes from the ventolin.I have OA of the spine. I find the best tablets that help my phlegm is carbocisten, may not always agree with everyone but for me taking 6 a day plus other meds of it,it helps me to clear any lying phlegm away. I do hope that your health soon improves for you. Take care 🤞👍

Hi Jaybird, didn't they explain to you at the hospital the reason for the nebuliser. I was diagnosed with overlap asthma last year. I think it shows on the lung function test how your breathing is before and after salbutamol. You could give the helpline a call I am sure they would be able to explain things to you. Hope you fell a bit better soon x

It's so difficult with multiple conditions to know which one is the culprit causing the infection breathlessness etc I was diagnosed 11yrs ago with bronchietasis and 10yrs prior asthma and in 2015 copd so when a flare up occurs its a process of elimation. Currently mucus thicker than normal 2 samples in and no infection just productive cough and prednisolone 4weeks so far .Definitely a mucolyte and acapella device being used to clear it away and making sure I can getsome movement around the house to get some kind of relief for it to come up and breathe easier .wishing you some positive help at your respiratory appointment

I've been diagnosed with both asthma and bronchiectasis, though I don't think the asthma's very active at the moment. They seem to coexist quite happily. You need to get treatment for green sputum, as everyone says. There are various programs of seated exercise on the internet, which I've been doing when I don't feel up to anything else. I've been to Chair Pilates classes which are good for people with dodgy balance. Good luck. I hope you find a solution. xxx

hi jaybird

As its broncechtisis and nublizer 3% monclear helps to make the lungs clear and make it smooth so mucus can come out smoothly without loosing too much energy do nublizer 3-4 times a day. Great good luck.
