Quick update regarding a question I had a couple of months ago. I was worried that I would not be able to perform the walk test at my my 6 monthly check up for my lung transplant. I took your advise, gritted my teeth and increased my oxygen. I managed 4 minutes of slow walking, rested and then completed it. They were very happy, and I actually managed 200 metres. I was so chuffed with myself, though It took a wile to recover. All other tests were ok, although they are concerned about the palpitations I am having. Heart scan was a little concerning.
They are going to discuss if I am suitable for a single lung, as although not as good as a double, it is way better than none!
They said there are just not enough lungs available and as I have had just one dry run in 17 months, the pool of lungs is very small. Trying to get my head round the impact of a single lung transplant, I should know if this is possible in the next couple of weeks.
Happy Sunday Everybody. ☀️

If you are not planning on climbing a mountain or running a marathon a single lung will enable you to live comfortably. I am living proof. Good luck Mary. xx ❤️
I’m glad I did my mountain climbs, including Everest Base Camp, before this lung disease took hold!My aspirations have lowered considerably. To live oxygen free and to be able to walk unaided will be enough.
A difficult time for you Mary and I hope all works out well for you. As you will see from Caspiana, a single lung transplant can give you a good outcome. Her story has been quite inspirational to all those in your situation.
Well done Mary. Keeping my fingers crossed for you to get the transplant you deserve. Cas is definitely the right person to speak with whenever you need any information about the procedure. John 😀
