I need advice 😫. Been taking trelegy after 3 viruses and started 25th November. After 2 weeks had good breathing but only lasted 3 days. Very breathless, constantly using my rescue inhaler and coughing up so much rubbish. I am not sure whether to persevere or maybe there could be something else going on in my body. It's so depressing having to wait to see if what you are trying works or not as you all probably know but last time I talked to my respiratory nurse she said we are running out of ideas. That filled me with joy as you can imagine. Any advice very much welcomed ☺️

Coughing up all that rubbish indicates that there is an infevtion going on. Inhalers are no good for that. You need a good course of effective antibiotics.

I often have lingering inflammation after infections, and produce excess mucous.ru on carbocysteine or nacys - at these times,I reduce or stop it for few days.do u do lung clearance? If u do twice a day,u get most of it up + it improves breathing ( if not, look at lung clearance techniques on aluk website).if u think infections brewing, get a Dr appointment x

It does sound as though there's definitely something else going on Mellywelly with all the yuk in yr lungs.I hope you can get a same day appt for new abs tomorrow before they close fir Xmas.

I'm afraid I know nothing about Trelegy but I'd question any changes made in winter time (that's me though, I'm worse in winter). These flipping viruses. My gp refused abs on Thursday saying "it's a medical impossibility that a bacterial infection occurs after a virus"! My arse 🀬

Good luck, I hope you get the result you need and fast. P Γ—Γ—

That’s the one good thing about ending up in A and E and waiting for hours and hours ….a blood test to see if there is an ongoing infection .

Where do these GPs get their training when we patiemts know only too well that there is a thing called a secondary bacterial infection when the bacteria use the virus as a cover to breed.

I had a virus and it made me weak effecting muscles and therefore breathing. Infection followed as bugs always linger in the base of my lungs, they increased and needed antibiotics . My bronch is both sides bottom of lungs. If you think you have infection see Gp get a antibiotic. Good luck. xx

Hi Mellywelly, hope you don't mind me asking "do you smoke"? I'm sure that if you do you will know that it's the first thing you have to stop doing to help yourself . I'm 20 years older than you and suffer with the same problem as you (I don't smoke) but just recently I have been given a patch called: Butec 5mg. You wear it over your shoulder for one week and then a fresh one over the other shoulder for a week. You can Google it to find out more and talk to your doctor about it as it may not be suitable for you being younger but no harm in asking. Hope this will be of help to you, take care x

I started Trelegy 12 days ago and like you found immediate relief. I know my voice is a wee bit hoarse and I’m still coughing occasionally, nothing like I was before. I’ve had more energy and my oxygen level was 100%. I’m still a bit sceptical that it’s going to keep working as I’ve had a problem for years but fingers crossed. It sounds to me that you’ve got an infection. Are you in the UK? I’m in the US but my friend back home says she’s got a very bad cold and loads of people are sick and even have pneumonia. Stay warm, hot drinks, chicken soup and if you’re getting no better then best see the doctor. Take care Chris

I would say that if the Trelegy worked for 3 days then you've contracted another infection if you're coughing up gunk. Trelegy includes LAMA which should reduce the amount of mucus your lungs are producing. I'd definitely get it checked out if I were you but what a rotten time of year for you to become poorly! 😬

Hopefully, you don't live too far away from your nearest A&E - just in case...

I do hope that you get better soon Mellywelly and get to enjoy your Christmas.

Take care

Jan xx

I agree with the others, sounds like an infection has crept in. Maybe phone 111 and see if you can get some antibiotics that way. Don’t let it fester all over the festive season xxx

Sorry you're feeling so bad. I'd seriously consider calling 111. I don't know if they can arrange home visits but they certainly should do something. Hope you soon feel better.
