Hi,

I've been puy on relvar and tolerated it well (fostair gave me the shakes) I've just got my prescription from the pharmacy and the inhaler is trelegy not relvar which is on prescription from doctor. Are they the same just different brands. Thought I'd ask on her as pharmacy is closed to today as is the surgery. Many thanks

Update, pharmacy error he was very apologetic and gave me the correct inhaler.

Thank you for all your replies 😊

Which lung disease have you been diagnosed with? I have been on Relvar for years to help with asthma. Since then I have also been diagnosed with bronchiectasis. A bright young asthma nurse changed my Relvar for Trelegy and the physiotherapist at Pulmonary Rehab had a fit. She told me to go straight back on to Relvar. Apparently Trelegy dries up mucus while Relvar helps you bring it up. I think you need to have an urgent word with your pharmacist. They should not have changed the doctor'e prescription. Best wishes.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have asthma. I was on clenil and salbutamol bit earlier this year I got a bad chest infection. I had an appt with my asthma nurse and she put me on fostair that didn't agree with me so I wasn't her given relvar. Relvar has suited me. My prescription definitely states relvar (nhs app) I just thought it might of been a different brand name. I will call in thw pharmacy Monday. It's actually got the direction label sticker on the trelegy box as relvar! Thanks

I’ve had Relvar Ellipta for several years. I asked to try trelegy but after a few weeks I felt worse so I went back to Relvar much better now. I have stage 4 emphysema. I guess different inhalers don’t suit everyone.

Hello, I have Asthma COPD, and some years ago I was changed from the old Seretide to low dose Relvar and Incruse, then a few years later this was changed to Trelegy. After some short while later I became very unwell for some months with Asthma exacerbation. Eventually I saw the consultant and he immediately changed me back to Incruse and increased the dose of the Relvar for me. All reasonably settled since then which was 8 years ago now.

So do discuss with your prescriber and I hope you get your medication sorted for you very soon.

Go well.

I was on Relvar, got changed to Trelegy as it has an extra drug in it , Relvar has 2 meds , Trelegy has 3 . I have been doing ok with the Trelegy. Hope this helps.

it’s a dispensing error if your prescription not been changed. It’s the same regime of one puff daily but has an extra element in it. Hope you get it sorted. Take care 🦊x

Hi, You would have thought the pharmacy would have explained it to you when you collected the prescription - not leave you guessing if it was the right one🙄. Hope you get it sorted soon. xxx

It sounds like a dispensing error so best to check. I was on relvar. Now on Trelegy which suits me much better. They are definitely not the same. I have chronic asthma with fixed airways and brochiectasis.

Asthma nurse recently tried to get me change to Fostair. Consultant disagreed and has written to the GP about it. Nurse should not have interfered with medication.

Hope you get it sorted tomorrow. If not, speak to your consultant or GP.
