Steam inhaler recommendation

I’ve had a chest infection and Sinus infection. On the mend now with help of antibiotics and steroids. I have COPD and Asthma and for the past couple of years if I get a bad cold or some virus it always goes to my chest and Sinus and I end up struggling and needing antibiotics and steroids to recover. I’m thinking of buying a steam inhaler but need one that can cope with congestion so strong and good quality. Any recommendations please? Thanks

Head over a bowl with towel over head is the old way.but u can buy a cup made for purpose, which has a mask on the spout, very cheap from home bargains .u can add olbas oiI menthol, vicks - if u prefer. I take decongestant tablets whn bad and sterimar daily congestion wash is excellent, easy to rinse facial sinuses

Are you thinking of a nebuliser and saline solution rather than steam? If so Evergreen Nebulisers on line are good and can offer some reasonably priced ones.

Hello, sorry to read that you have been suffering with chest and sinus infection.

Using a steam inhaler can sometimes be risky because all bugs thrive in a moist warm atmosphere- meaning a steam inhaler provides just the environment these bugs love.

If you need to shift mucous there are better ways to try.

1/ Drink more clear fluids through the day to loosen the mucous.

2/ Practice chest mucous clearing techniques if you have been taught them ?

3/ If not already taking it request a prescription for Carbocisteine although it can take a couple of weeks to get into your system and begin working after starting it.

4/ Some gentle activity will help to shift the mucous as well.

Hope you feel better soon.

Go well.
