I had symptoms of a chest infection doctor told me to take SOS medication. Which are Clarithromycin 500mg , and Prednisolone Steroids. The chest has cleared up more or less. I feel terrible on the tablets. Feel on edge and cannot rest or sleep. Do you think its the steroids or the antibiotics side effects.
Thank you in advance

Most likely it is the steroids - I feel much the same when I have to take them as well as the abs. You could phone to speak to a BLF nurse - click on red balloon below the green bar at the top of the page - to ask for advice.
Will most definitely be the steroids. You probably only have to take them for a few days then the jittery feeling will go away. I'm on Clarithromycin & Amoxicillin at the moment & feel fine.
When I was put on steroids I didn't get hardly any sleep for a whole six months! Prednisolone was the one I was given. Started on a dose of 40 mg. You must not just stop this drug suddenly.
You must reduce it slowly .......... PLEASE check with your Doctor BEFORE stopping the drug it can be life threatening to stop them suddenly however bad you feel it has to be done slowly. PLEASE be extremely careful. I reduced mine really slowly over a period of months. The drug was a complete nightmare and I developed Cushing's Syndrome and had three life threatening events. However, if I had not been put on them I would probably be dead by now from the Lung Disease. I would almost definitely be dead if I had stopped them suddenly as well!
Steroids. For the firs time ever this year the steroids did this to me too. Taken them before and although they "wound me up" I did sleep but had 3 courses this year and hardly any sleep at all on them. Still, if your chest has cleared then it will be worth it.
