Covid recovery

Hi, I tested positive on 15th December and was positive for 14 days. It attacked my lungs this time and was bad. From day 1 I was prescribed steroids and a 2 week course of Docyciclyne to take alongside my nebuliser. I’m now on my third course of steroids and my peak flow is still only about 310. Heart rate is still higher. I’m fully vaccinated and had the last booster, my first Pfizer, one week before testing positive.

This time it has been much worse than the first time I had covid.

Has anyone else found it’s taking long to get their peak flow back to normal?

I was told it can take 2 years to fully recover from pneumonia so I guess it may take awhile to recover from Covid. Any chest infection can cause scarring in the lungs and this will cause a reduction in lung function. My peak flow is down to about 230 but I do have Aspergillosis and emphysema plus a nasty bout of pneumonia a few years back.

I had covid the week before Christmas and it's taking me longer to recover than I thought it would, I first caught it 3 years ago and was over it relatively quickly. This strain seems altogether nastier. Best wishes- take it easy when you need to.

My daughter, with no lung or other health issues, is still testing positive for Covid she fell ill with on 28 December. Her chest was so bad she actually visited A&E (with permission as her GPs was closed) as she couldn’t breathe, thinking she must have a bad chest infection, but was found to have nothing medically treatable. It was just a nasty strain of Covid, almost like at the first outbreaks back in 2020, which had gone totally to her chest.

She is fully vaccinated, and last had Covid 5 months ago 🤦‍♀️🙄

It is receding, but of course I haven’t dared go near her, nor been able to help out with her children sadly. 🤷‍♀️. So it seems there really are some unpleasant viruses out there for us to be very wary of. I hope you get back to better health before too long 🤞💐

I hope your daughter is recovering and feeling better. It is a really bad strain. I’ve been much worse than when I had it 2 years ago. Sorry to hear she’s had it again after only 5 months.

Thank you, she is improving now, but it has shocked me how bad it has been for her. I do know it’s not something I want! 🤞
