I've recently been diagnosed with Bronchiectasis. I have terrible uncontrollable coughing episodes when I wake up in the morning and late in the evening. Yesterday with the respiratory nurse I was taught the breathing exercises. I was also given a prescription for the aerobika device. Has anyone who's used it found it helpful in clearing mucus from the chest ? It's the coughing thats really getting me down.

Aerobika Device
I use an air physio, similar device, and I use huffing instead of coughing to lift the mucus. x
Hi, I use an aerobika device and it is helpful (along with the breathing exercises) for clearing mucus. Think some people find it works it immediately but for me it seems to help shift it on and off for a couple of hours after I've used it. Hope it helps you too🤞xxx
i found an AeroBika worked like magic. It brought up the mucus as soon as I used it and really helped in the last bad infection I had. We're all different, and I was lucky. I hope it works as well for you.
Yes, I've got an aerobika and love it, I also take carbocistine and high salt saline (6%) so I can keep the mucus down and breathe better
I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis about 5 years ago, on top of life long asthma (well controlled)
The coughing used to get to me (& everyone around !) but I found that drinking a LOT of water helps a lot in shifting the mucky stuff.
I also use a Neilmed saline rinse every morning and evening which helps keeping my nose & sinuses clear and hydrated. That is really helpful for my coughing too, as I notice as soon as I miss/forget !
Finally I find exercising helps too. When I cycle or swim I have to breathe harder and that makes me cough deeper which clears my chest.
I now rarely cough at all, it seems these trickd & new habits have given me control of it.
Best of luck !

codeine or cocodomol are wonderful for suppressing a cough. And I find my flutter or Perps work well to dislodge mucus.
I’ve found it useful .
I’ve also got Bronchiectasis and find the aerobiker device works well at the beginning of my breathing/huffing exercises to loosen the mucus. As someone also said, my clearance exercises are heaps better/ more effective after a cycle or swim when I have been out of breath. Good luck.
Can I ask what this device looks like, I would really like to try it and have never heard of it, is it something my GP could give me?
Sorry I can't be off more help.. Having had Bronch for over 20 years, the physio routine does help clear mucus and exercising can help too.
Good luck with it all and wish you good health.
Yes yr gp can prescrbe it.do u have a respiratory nurse to show u how to use it? If not,im sure therell be demos xx
I have an Aerobika and wouldn't use anything else. Prior to that I had a flutter device and was changed on to the Aerobika 12 months ago, brilliant device, can't recommend it enough. I also use Neilmed as suggested by Rattle. I do only use it 3 or 4 times a week but it really helps clear the sinuses which I'm sure also helps to keep the chest clear. Good luck with the Aerobika.
