has anyone any experience with long term antibiotic treatment for bronchiectasis particularly Azithromycin.

Hi, I have a chronic cough, probably due to bronchiectasis, as well as mucus trapped in my throat by a postnasal dropper. Lately I have a strange taste when I cough, has anyone experienced this?

I hope those of you reading this with bronchiectasis are feeling well right now. I have a 14 year old son with bronchiectasis and I wondered if anyone here has experience with children with the condition. My son got it after contracting a superbug in hospital seven years ago.

I have been diagnosed with copd and bronchiectasis for many years approximately 10 with my consultant saying its chronic. However I recently had a CT scan and received my results saying everything looked fine. Am I missing something? Surely if I was that bad would not something show on the scan ?

I’m usually quite laid back and rarely get so anxious but the CT scan that confirmed my Bronchiectasis also found an abdominal tumour and I’ve developed an aversion to appointments even though I seem to live at hospitals these days !! Thanks again

Hi all, was diagnosed with bronchiectasis and chronic asthma in may. I had had a cough since Christmas and was given several short courses of doxy, which would work and when I stopped chest infection would come back.

Hi all, I very rarely am unable to produce sputum in the morning so find it difficult to get to my gp before cut off of 12 noon.Feeling a bit rough at the moment with lots of mucus production in the afternoon, does anyone keep a sample overnight to send off the following morning? Hi Just been prescribed eff NAC to replace carbocysteine .. just wondering if this works almost straight away or do I have to run with the carbocysteine in tandem for a short while? Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated 🙏

i had 3 bad chest infections last year and each one lasting 9/10/weeks.in october i was diagnosed with bronchiectasis. i saw a specialist and was put on carbocisteine and was shown how to clear my airways each day. Since then no infections and hardly any mucus coming up.

Anybody with asthma + bronchiectasis combo ever suffer with total loss of voice? Ihave the odd croaky days, but it doesn't last long, now I've lost my voice ccompletely.....had loads of hot drinks, nothing working. Tips please!! Thanks.

In Sept 2022 i got the flu which turned into pneumonia. Never been so sick. Anyway after i recovered i had a cough that would not go away. Just a dry loud cough. I got x-rays and a CT scan done which were not damning but said i had a pleural effusion and some plugging etc most likely from the pneumonia

Have Bronchiectasis with colonized pseudomonas Just finished 2 weeks of Ciprofloxacin.. had my first flare up for 10 months .. 🙄 Thought I was doing well .. but then just started producing loads of mucus which was different consistency & also keeping me up during the night .

Dx with GPA in 2015, now newly dx with Bronchiectasis. Really really struggling, & doesn’t appear to be much available to help. Just wondered if anyone could offer any positive advice? TIA
