Can anyone advise me please regarding Hydrocortisone tablets? I take 1- 10mg in the morning +5 mg at lunchtime for an Adrenal gland problem, I was wondering if there is an alternative steroid that I could take in place of Hydrocortisone, as I have been on Hydrocortisone for quite some time now and my ankles are very badly swollen even though I have been taken Bumetanide 2 per day water tablets , my ankles are still badly swollen,so bad that I have great difficulty getting shoes on.... All advice will be greatly appreciated..Thank you in advance.. Primrose 123...x

Hi Primrose123, it's gsp. How are you?
Lovely to hear from you Trentz, I am doing ok , just that I was diagnosed with a fungal infection and prescribed Hydrocortisone tablets which are making my ankles swell, I hope to be prescribed prednisolone as opposed to Hydrocortisone.. How are you doing now yourself Trentz? Hope all good & well with you..Take care, Primrose 123..x
Sorry to hear about the fungal infection. I'm good thanks.
👍xx

hi there. I have had adrenal suppression for many years and take 10mg hydrocortisone daily. Do you definitely know it’s that which is causing the swollen ankles? I can’t answer your question but do know there are some natural ways of trying to reduce ankle swelling. When I do get a swollen ankle it’s often related to hot weather. Hope you find a solution because I know how uncomfortable it can be.
Thank you Stanjory for your kind advice, I think that the hydrocortisone tablets are causing my ankles to swell, as I have been elevating my feet & also been walking around the house & garden several times daily & I am on water tablets too, I have decided to contact my gp to see if there is an alternative tablet to hydrocortisone that perhaps will alleviate the swelling.. Thank again, Stanjory.. Primrose 123.x
