I see someone has suggested a plug in blanket, so I assume they mean an electric overblanket.
They do work but, be careful. My sister bought one for mum & dad, dual controls so they could be as warm as they wanted. One day however mum complained that she had been cold and turned it up. Still not feeling very warm she turned it up some more. Later on when dad was around, we asked if the blanket was alright. No! was the answer. It`s too bloody hot. I keep turning it down but it seems to get hotter.
Don`t make the mistake of moving the controls around or war will be declared between your mum and dad.

I have an electric blanket but am really worried about coming energy bills. Have decided to invest in a couple of new duvet covers for winter called “teddy bear fleece “ from Amazon. I hope they will keep me nice and toasty!
I’ve used fleece bedding for some years now but this “teddy bear” fleece is meant to be extra cozy. If I don’t want to get up then even better because am looking at ways to keep central heating usage to a minimum!!
my electric blanket takes literally 5 minutes on high and has 6 level controls and separate controls for double bed but I have never measured the usage , cannot sleep if cold so have to have it on before I get in . it can be left on low for 9 hours if needed but don't do that . cost twice as much as some to buy, but I have to have itas my bedroom has flat roof and always too hot or too cold, don't heat it, so electric blanket essential.
