This Dyson helps so much

These things are quite expensive but because I have breathing difficulties ( oh and my dad does too ) mum thought we should have one and I have to say it’s very good , I find it very comfortable especially when I’m taking my siesta on the humans only settee 😉

Oh I hope you’re both better soon 🙏 We shouldn’t complain but this hot weathers great for all sorts of bugs isn’t it 🙄 I keep cool by covering up and keeping out of it for the most part , I’ve never been a sun worshipper , give me spring or autumn any day - unless I’m abroad in a seafront restaurant, nice breeze and my chair in the shade that I can cope with 😂

Thank you. It’s just a bit too hot for us. I’m no sun worshiper either and am using ice to keep cool. Drinking lots of water. Take care xxxx

Mine was money well spent this year Val. I'm so glad I bought one before this heatwave was known about.

That looks nice and cool!!! Money well spent!! xxx 😘

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to madonbrew

It’s not just cool Dee it can be used as a heater too but the real benefit for Geoff is the air quality control .It displays how good or not the air is and if it s bad it can be switched on full power to clean the air which really helps Geoff 😊

madonbrew profile image
madonbrew in reply to Thepainterswife

That sounds rather clever!!! 😊 Definitely worth its money!!! It’s really good that there’s stuff about that can help us isn’t it! I’m glad it really helps Geoff!

So glad the cat's all right. Does your husband have to move her along the sofa when it's his term? xxx

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to Alberta56

😂 it’s a dog Alberta , a French bulldog, but understandable that you thought she’s a cat , she’s four but incredibly small for the breed. Geoff sits at the opposite end of the sofa which is fine for him and just as well because there’s another dog , her brother Boris ,waiting to grab the spot as soon as Belle moves !

Alberta56 profile image
Alberta56 in reply to Thepainterswife

Apologies to your little Belle. Funnily enough Brian thought she was a dog when I showed him the pic. Usually he's the unobservant one. It's a lovely picture- Dog through Dyson, which sounds a really impressive piece of kit. xxx

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to Alberta56

😂 “ Dog through Dyson “ it could be a Picasso ! She’s a french bulldog Alberta which are becoming common now but when I rescued my oldest 7 years ago I’d never seen an animal like him I actually said “what is it ?” 😂

I have just read an article that said that fans shouldn't be left on all night. Well sod that! I'll risk it.

in reply to CDPO16

Me too

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to CDPO16

Geoff wouldn’t switch his Dyson off during the night for anything ! They must be safe otherwise why would they have a night mode 🤔 He would risk it anyway and during the current weather I’m sure hundreds if not thousands are doing the same 😊 x

CDPO16 profile image
CDPO16 in reply to Thepainterswife

Not sure.mine has a night mode but it's staying on anyway.

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife

It’s on the remote Carole the button with the crescent moon . We never use it so I’ve just tried it and it went from the setting it was on 7 straight to 4 and was very quite but Geoff just uses the app on his phone ( he finds that easier because it’s a bigger display ) or the remote to choose whatever setting he needs . Nothing would stop Geoff using it either x

This is the only type of fan I can have near me without it bothering my breathing and boy have I been grateful for it the past few days

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to Sparkywoo

Yes they are expensive but everyone who has one seems to agree they’re worth the money

garshe profile image

Heard about them but havent tried one. Sounds good, Dyson a very good make. A bit more expensive but worth every pennybuf if it does the job. Glad you have kept cool..temperatures down today do less uncomfortable. 💕⚘😡😡

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to garshe

So true Sheila, I’m currently sat in the garden and the breeze is actually pleasantly cool 🤗( not the horrible stagnant heat we’ve had over the past few days) - anyone who enjoyed that is not normal !😂

Cloudancer profile image
Cloudancer

You are absolutely right -my family got me one recently (yep expensive).During the hot weather the local farmer was out in the fields opposite us working with the combine harvester..The Dyson has been a godsend -would be in a right old pickle without it!

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to Cloudancer

Godsend is definitely the right word Cloudancer 👍😊

Jazzfiend1938 profile image

Dyson formaldehyde. I have recently bought one of these (they are the most expensive recently available, but do have a kind of “catalytic converter “ element as well) and it certainly does remove chemical irritants - my lung condition has always been worsened by exposure to chemicals and especially from paints, plastics ( which includes carpet of man made fires) and it is a real blessing especially in this weather.

Kzzzz profile image
Kzzzz

Which model is this?

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to Kzzzz

Ours is a hot and cool air purifier which we bought two years ago , I don’t know if the one mentioned by jazz fiend 1938 ( the post above yours) is a more recent one but if you go on the Dyson web site they’re all there . For most people it’s as much about the air quality as the fan . We didn’t realise how much the air quality was affecting Geoffs condition until we actually bought this 😃

Looks a fab one. Glad it helps xx

I’ve popped in ! Your dog looks very cuddly. Our cat is not fond of the fan, but likes it when I put cold water on my hand and stroke her with it. I’m going to try a damp towel next.

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to

I’ve been putting damp towels on the dogs , they have cool vests but don’t like them 🙄 The weather here in the NW is so much better this morning , lovely and sunny but not draining thank goodness. I and my dogs are enjoying being outside again hope you n your cat are too 😃

in reply to Thepainterswife

Yes, thank you. Have discovered that it's cooler out than in, with a nice breeze blowing. My cat has found a shady place under the wheelbarrow. She's back indoors now. She lets us know loud and clear when she has arrived and we have to answer 👀.

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to

My dogs are spoilt rotten but don’t realise they are , cats on the other hand know they’re superior and that humans are on this earth to serve them 😂

in reply to Thepainterswife

My husband says cats haven't ever forgotten the time that they were worshipped by the Egyptians as gods !

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to

I think you’re husbands right , my daughter and granddaughter both have sphinx cats they have a lovely temperament, very soft but when they stare into my eyes it’s creepy 😳😂

in reply to Thepainterswife

If it's too creepy, try cat language, close and open your eyes a couple of times when they look at you, sometimes looking slightly to one side in between. I did this to my cat this morning and she yawned, no, she wasn't bored 😀, it means 'I love you' in the cat world. I like dogs too, but my cat, a British blue, who is never far away from us, would be mortified if we got one.

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to

I love all animals but I’m not really into cats that much probably because I’ve taken in two strays in the past and they were both very aloof , one I had for 14 years until she died and the other (a male )for 4 years left us to live with someone else , very ungrateful 😡 😂 I think I was just unlucky ,my neighbour took in her mothers cat when she died , he was 13 and he was just lovely, he used to follow me all around the garden and sit purring on my lap 🥰 My daughter is crazy about cats but I don’t think she knows “ cat language “ I ll pass that on Her cat, Rory is really loving but I struggle to feel comfortable with a hairless cat 🫣

in reply to Thepainterswife

Yes, hairless cats take some getting used to, I suppose, as we are more used to the fluffy variety. Each cat, as you have found, has its own character. I had a rescued feral cat that was loving for a time, but this turned to spitefulness when you were least expecting it. This was the wild side of its nature. I couldn't keep it as I moved abroad, but a young couple of punks found its eccentricity absolutely charming and adopted it ! All our cats have been rescues, we had a half Persian before our British Blue, both very loving. The first took a little time to become a lapcat, but strangely never had the same relationship with my husband. Our present cat is absolutely besotted with him 👀

Anyway animals of all sorts can be a source of comfort in times of depression etc. Our Yorkie helped my husband through a bad spell before he met me. Thank goodness for the little devils 😀

Izb1 profile image

That must have been a blessing over the last few days, they are expensive but must be worth it as so many have bought them, hopefully the shelf life will be a long one too x

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to Izb1

I hope so Izbi we’ve had it for two years and I’m hoping for at least another eight . The filters have to be renewed , the machine actually tells you when , and that apparently depends on how often it’s used , ours is on 24/7 and we’ve changed the filters twice at £50 a time . It does sound really expensive but if you think it’s a pound a week for clean air that really makes life more comfortable it’s worth it I just wish there was something similar available on the NHS so everyone with lung conditions could benefit but that’s not going to happen is it ?🙄

Izb1 profile image
Izb1 in reply to Thepainterswife

Its a shame that we cant get at least a discount if you have a lung disease as the mark up on these must be quite high, but like you say once the intial layout is paid for £1 per week isnt much for the filter, you pay more than that for a coffee and pleased that you have found relief by having one of these x

Hi Val. Just catching up on the posts, so a little late. A very futuristic looking machine but by all accounts works well, especially for Belle. Just laughing at myself, just couldn't understand the conversation or replies until i looked again at your photo. I have to say i am partially sighted and did not see the wee pug in the middle, but once I realised she was there it all fell into place!! Have to double check photos! It seems everyone is happy. Good advert for Dyson. No doubt you are all pleased at the cooler day today xxx

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to HollyBoyd

Yes my post seems to have turned into an endorsement for Dyson when I just thought it was funny that Belle was enjoying the benefits of it 😂 The cooler day has been so good , the dogs haven’t been covered in wet tea towels and I’ve been able to get some gardening done Strangely enough Geoff was the one who suffered least , he feels the cold even on warm days so he was still wearing a long sleeved tee shirt and brushed cotton pj bottoms , although he did dispense with his hoody until later in the day 😂

HollyBoyd profile image
HollyBoyd in reply to Thepainterswife

That's good to know Geoff didn't suffer in the heat, but now we can all relax, the dogs too. Stay cool xxx 😋

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife

We can indeed HollyBoyd 😊 I hope you enjoy the more pleasant temperatures as much as I intend to Take care xxx
