I receive pension credit. Does anyone know if the electricity rebate cheque for oxygen concentrator use should be declared as income?

Hi Tykelady. I wouldn't think it would be considered as income. If still in doubt the ALUK help line would definitely know. xxx

I wouldn't think so, I've never seen it mentioned here in over 9 years. After all its hardly income if it's a repayment for electricity used.

No you don't have to declare it. Afterall it only covers what electric your machine uses. Not anymore then that. So your not making any income off it.

That seems to be the majority vote so I'll leave DWP well alone. Thank you

My oxygen provider is Baywater Health and they took my bank details even before I left hospital. I didn't have to claim at all. The cheque is deposited by Baywater but the NHS are the ones who pay for it I thimk.

Thank you. Mine was provided by BOC they said that you have to have 500 hours on your concentrator before you get payment the life of the concentrator is 500 before you have to have it changed!and the electricity company Said it is dealt with by your provider you cannot win. Thank you for your information Take care

Try your respiratory nurse. They are the NHS prescribers and might be able to help you. x

Hi kenbren. The oxygen provider have engineers who come every 6 months to service the concentrator. They take the reading from the concentrator and it is sent to the oxygen providers finance department and they deposit the money you are due into your bank account. Hope this clarifies your question . good luck x

Can you phone BOC 's helpline and ask for their headquarters or finance dept, and ask them. I had to do that with Dolby, my provider and I'm now reimbursed. Hope you can get satisfaction. x

It must be the power of thought. On checking my account see that a refund from BOC is in my account for electricity!Waiting 3 years and it suddenly appeared after posting my message. Thank you to everyone who responded Stay cool and safe
