New NHS Email :PCR and Antiviral

I received an email from NHS/Health secretary yesterday about me being CEV and the need for the NHS to send me a standby PCR test and possible antiviral if I test positive.

My issue is with the the process from PCR test to sending the antiviral. The concept on paper is good but lacks practical sense.

So they're saying you get sent the PCR test and if you get covid or symptoms you test yourself.

You then send of the test to verify disease and if positive you get sent the antiviral.

My question is that they say the antiviral is supposed to be taken as soon as and obviously the time lag between symptoms and medication is not a day or two?

It is not a perfect solution but they have brought only so many treatments. Due to the symptoms being similar to other conditions it would be a possible waste if given to someone with flu etc. From my reading the medications can be given within 5 days of the first symptoms. In many areas special centres are being set up to give the treatments IV as soon as you get a positive PCR. The other in tablet form can be delivered to your home if required.

Thanks. I was getting a little anxious about the delivery. 😅

It may not be the best answer to the solutions but at least it is a step in the right direction. Have a lovely day and please take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx 🌹

A friend who is immunosuppressed was sent a tablet at the same time as the PCRS test so reducing delay as far as possible. I don’t know if that’s the same for everyone. I’ve not even had a text!

Just received the PCR test without the tablet

I was thinking that there is too much of a time gap and shouldn't you be taking the antiviral in the first 3/ 4 days ? X
