Catching covid and needing anti virals

My husband who has alveolitis, diabetes and a heart condition had a positive covid test on Sunday morning. As we are still trying to avoid to keep ourselves as isolated as we can and avoid busy places/indoor settings we originally thought it was the start of a seasonal cold, so absolutely gutted to have finally caught covid .

The reason for this post it to let everyone know that if you need anti virals via the NHS 111in England you best report your positive covid test Monday - Friday or Saturday morning as they are closed from Saturday lunchtime.

The result being my husband is now on 2 day since positive test and has still not been contacted from the CMDU. Our GP also advised since they reconfigured the service they have to use the same reporting pathway as they cannot prescribe this treatment.

At the moment symptoms seem quite mild so we are not as panicky now as we were but hoping that someone is going to contact us before the day is out.

So sorry to hear your husband has Covid and thank you for the info. We caught Covid last March and Pete was prescribed antivirals straight away. It took a day or two before he got them though. I hope you to hear today as they do help.

Sending get well wishes. Xxx

I hope that he recovers quickly with out too much uncomfortable symptoms. It can be 3 days before the antivirals time lapse is up before they can get them to you after then they have said to me that its too late for prescription. I know some circumstances have changed to be eligible now as I had paxlovid for bronchiectasis 1st Itime i got covid but 2nd time they took bronchiectasis off the register.

when I caught Covid in August, I phoned my GP at 8.30am and the GP phoned me back, she then contacted the Covid delivery, think that’s what’s it’s called. They phoned me and arranged for my antiviral drugs and my daughter collected them by midday. Hope you get them

We live in France and my wife has Bronch. We have both had Covid 2 or 3 times now despite being vaccinated, but never any mention of antivirals as treatment. We are both 74 years old so well within the "dodgy" age group. Any info from UK would be appreciated. Have a good day, Chris.
