Hmm. I’ve got an immune deficiency and even I (a bit surprisingly) had some antibodies after two doses of AZ. I was thrilled. Of course, I don’t know how many!

I’m not sure but I think you can get one via the Zoe app. I’m a bit suspicious of the ones you buy

The same as my answer below, the one the Zoe app invites you to take is only for those with prior infection and it does state that. I posted a quote (cut & paste) from the Zoe email.

Oh, I see. I missed that post. Actually mine wasn’t via the Zoe app, it was a Biobank study. I haven’t had covid & probably not exposed to it either, as I was at home, shielding, for 14months, so surely any antibodies I have must be from the vaccine 🤷‍♀️

Tbh the immune system is a mystery to me, it’s so complicated. But anyway they wrote to say I had “clearly detectable” antibodies so I was delighted

I found something in info on vaccine that said the lateral flow test does not detect the antibodies as you would have from an infection with the virus. Try the government web site

The Serology test for antibodies will only work for natural antibodies generated from an infection, it will not work for vaccine generated antibodies. The two are distinct seperate types of antibodies. The antibodies generated from an infection are ultra potent.

Can antibody tests tell you if a COVID-19 vaccine worked?

hi the test was from biobank where you prck your finger then test the blood for antibodies

My husband had exactly the same result some time ago but this is not unusual as 2greys has explained. Seems pointless home test kits still being sent out unless they can identify antibodies generated from a vaccine.

I thought their use of the government issue for general use was to detect infection .and not the vaccine. I think we would all like to know if we do have a positive reaction to the vaccine giving us some protection.

My friend was called for a blood test to check for antibodies.I don’t know if it was a random contact or not .

Interesting post but can't offer any suggestions as to why such a result.

How do you get tested for antibodies? I would feel a lot happier if I knew I had some protection. The thing is we just don’t know without being tested. Not everybody has antibodies after having the vaccinations. We could pick covid up from anywhere.

I think all vulnerable and old people should take a test for antibodies.
