Haven’t posted for ages as have been waiting for my op on my sinuses and deviated septum. I was supposed to have the op last Oct but moved house and then there was covid , so it all got put back . Been feeling pretty rubbish all year and living constantly on antibiotics but hopefully things will improve as I am 1 week post op and all seems to have gone well . I’m hoping it’ll improve my bronchiectasis too .
Anyone else had this op and how did you get on afterwards .

I had it about five years ago. It was unpleasant but now I just use a maintenance dose of nasal spray and it is so much better than it was back then. They fixed the drainage problem , I no longer have post nasal drip. It takes time for the yucky after op stuff to go away, and then you can feel the difference.
I’m glad it worked for you - I’m hoping with fingers crossed 🤞. I had the post nasal drip but I had a really chronic infection all the time which went onto my chest .
So glad to hear you have had the op and all went well. I hope you get better quickly and see a great improvement. Please keep us updated.I have been living with sinusitis for over 2 years and i too have bronchiectasis. When I went in 14 months ago my blood pressure was too high and they sent me home. Now because of covid they said it would be too dangerous for me to have the op and will contact me in 6 months, I think this is also because I have rheumatoid and my immune system is very low. So all in all its a waiting game. I wish you well lesley53 x
Hi , I too had sinusitis for 2yrs - it was making me so ill . Covid was why I’ve had to wait so long - they said they’d get me in when it was safer and they did . I feel better even after a week - it was worth waiting for ! I’m sure they will recall you soon as they are trying now to carry on safely around the covid . The waiting is the worst especially when you feel so rubbish but there is light at the end of the tunnel so keep your hopes up , it will happen and stay as well as you can xx
I’ve had this done twice. The first time i got an infection within a couple of days and don’t think the op really helped. I was reluctant to have it done again when I was advised to do so but I’m so pleased I did. At the time I was having constant sinus and lung infections and even a bronchoscopy couldn’t come up with the cause. However they grew pseudomonas when I had the op so that was the start of getting proper treatment for the bug that was causing my problems. I think a week post op you are over the worst of the after effects. I’m 3 years on now still using the steroid spray and still using neilmed. I do sometimes get bunged up I think instead of a proper cold but I am so much better than I was. I nebulise antibiotics twice a day and mostly manage to steer clear of infections of my sinuses and lungs. I hope this worked well for you. 🤞
Blimey sounds like you’ve been through the mill a bit ! They sent off my gunk for analysis and there was a lot of it apparently!tbh the after effects aren’t too bad . I’m hopeful that it will have worked .
Pseudomonas is very nasty so I hope you’ll continue to do ok . Xx
Thank you. They were reluctant to do the second op as I had an infection brewing at the time but I pointed out that they would be lucky to catch me when I didn’t. So glad they did as they isolated the pseudomonas. I’m immune deficient so I don’t fight the infections myself. I’m sure you will be fine. I’ve spoken to a lot of people who have had success with this.
That’s good that they isolated the pseudo - better to know what you’re dealing with and better for treatment- wish you well and thank you for the encouragement xx
I have asthma, chronic sinusitis and bronchiectasis and had this op about 18 months ago.
I found the op and recovery much easier than I had expected. After the first blocked up week-10 days it was already better than before.
I still have to use Neilmed saline rinses twice a day and also using daily nose spray (Mometasone) and this is how it will be from now on.
It has been a great improvement to my wellbeing: less asthma and lung problems, less infections , hardly any postnasal drip or runny nose.
I have ongoing problems with loss of my sense of smell and also getting ”wrong smells” from things. This is unfortunately damage from the sinusitis so still hoping it will improve too.
I’ve had the surgery 3 times. I have eosinophilic asthma and bronchiectasis. I’m a year and 9 months postop. After a year I had another CT of my lungs and my bronchiectasis was much improved. The doctor said it was unusual to see that degree of improvement.
I do nasal rinses twice a day with saline and mometasone. My sinuses are doing so well that it has been decreased to daily. I still have the occasional asthma flare but not nearly as often.
Wow 3 times ! But impressive that you’ve done so well - really positive. I’m glad I had it - it was a no brainer . Thank you for replying - stay safe and well xx
My son had it done years ago and sinus linings removed at same time.he has allergies, still, that affect sinuses and has prescription yr round antihistamines.but, prob better than pre op
