Just a little update

Good news seems my GP has started a course for COPD once a week for four weeks for an hour, sadly I could not attend due to my other committments. But maybe improvements in the service might improve things for newly diagnosed. I had my MRI contrast media scan on my knee yesterday, just one thing no contrast media was used and it took eight weeks to get one, my knee joint as just gone again this morning hopefully the results will be through in two weeks as promised in return for attending on Sunday with my own family transporting me on their only day off work. My move to a bungalow is progressing slowly but still hopeing to move in the next few months. Shame its going to cost me around £50 a week to live in a small bungalow with services like lawn mowing but have no choice, in time it will be of benefit to me no doubt but right now it feels like I have worked all my life but still have to pay for a roof over my head because of health & status reasons. That's my moan for the day :) Does anyone know what treatment is normally given by the NHS for Meniscus Tear. Or is it another area where you have to go private ?Hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather, sadly for some of us it is a drag as it drains you in respect of breathing.Have a nice rest of day .

I had a complex tear of the right posterior meniscus. I have had two one day procedures on it, the first was not at all helpful, the second was a little better. My problem was my knee collapsing at very inconvenient moments, landing me on the floor with a good chance of breaking bones. I was treated on the NHS, the op is as good as the surgeon in my opinion, mine was awful. If you are having falls because of it, you should be offered NHS treatment, good luck to you !

Oh golly gosh katieoxo60 just as you have all the stress of your move, then typically your knee(?) is torn. It sounds extremely painful. Hopefully you'll be fast tracked through the system if it means you go from being able to walk to not being able to. Of course I don't know the details but I wish you well and hope the move to your lovely bungalow goes without a hitch and that you'll be very happy there.

Hope you get sorted soon Katie regarding your knee problems and your search for a bungalow. Sure things will be easier for you.

Thank you all for replies and support, things are moving slowly but I do really need a definate result from the scan so we know what it is , Meniscus tears do not heal without either certain care like a crutch, ice packs & rest or a minor repair op, of cause its not helped by delays in getting a correct diagnosis as many will tell you. My situation is made worse by arthritis in my feet and not being able to take NSAIDs. When we do get the result might have to wait months before I see orthopeadics along with the other queue of patients who may need quicker treatment to help get them back to work.I just wanted to know what it is so the GP can refer to the appropriate department. As the GP who referred as moved to another area of medicine I will need to see a different GP complicating the issue further. Anyway no point in lingering over something that I cannot do anything about until week beginning22nd July. Enjoy your day all .

So sorry to hear your not getting this problem with your knee sorted. Its so frustrating all the time waiting whilst you are in so much pain. I feel like i have become Victor Mildrew and have to chase everything myself. I hope your move to the bungalow comes quickly and things settle down for you x

Sorry to Hear this Katie. I am in a Council Bungalow, (I love it), Can you not claim for Rent Rebate? We have it. As for your Knee, it is something I will have to look into as My Knees are getting Weaker, I use Ibuprofen Gel all the time on them, and of Course I exercise as Much as they allow. Keep strong Katie, you always have been. Love n Hugs . XXX
