Hello all,
In the midst of all the worry, anxiety and devastation with the Carona outbreak, I wanted to share some good news. To recap - my mum had a single left lung transplant on the 30th October 19 and had a number of complications post-op. I have written a few updates about how shes been getting on. She was in critical care over 100 days.
On March 20th my mum was discharged from the hospital! Most people will spend more time on ward than in critical care. After being in critical care so long mum spent a record 6 weeks and 2 days on ward, the team were impressed at how far she had come. The surgeon came in to talk to us on the discharge day and said 'a lot of people didnt think this day would come for you'.
They said it was a bit early for her but considering the risks with Carona it would probably be safer on balance for her to leave.
I am glad to have her back, in the interim her care needs have definitely gone up from before the transplant - hopefully the more mobile she becomes this should get easier!
I want to thank you guys for your supportive messages to me during my updates. I did read them to mum and I know it helped both of us keep going !!!
