Hi Alice. Yes there's a 5th jab out. I posted on Sunday about it. Received and email and text stating my appointment had been made for later this month. Initially thought it was an oversight but it's not. You should receive notification of an appointment soon

Yes absolutely you're entitled to what is called the 'Spring Booster' being over 75. Available only to the immunosupressed and over 75s. I believe that you'll be notified by your GP or NHS. They've only just started to roll them out.

It's very confusing isn't it - I think medics are just as confused! Its called the 5th for those extra vulnerable who've already had three vaccinations and one booster (I suppose that's why they're calling it the spring booster). You're definitely entitled to this one being 75 now.

Personally I've had 2 vaccinations and 1 booster so a total of 3 jabs (I'd definitely like another booster but not old enough or immunosupressed so still masking up when I go out).

Does that mean as I have just been diagnosed with lung cancer I will get a notification? Thanks

I would hope that you will wpw62, best check with gp to be sure. With this 5th jab - which is a booster the previously shielded people aren't getting it unless they're over 75 or immunosupressed. A friend just had it & he has myeloma. P ×

Thank you I will ask my gp

I think (though could be wrong) that the immunosuppression associated with cancer is less to do with the cancer itself, but more if you are having chemotherapy.

I won’t be having chemotherapy I will be getting a targeted biological therapy.

Yes, if it ever came to it, that's what I think I would want. Hope it works out well for you - does it have an effect on immunity?

It’s such early days and I haven’t seen my oncologist yet. Been transferred from Papworth to my local hospital. And I had ave many questions to put to them.

So you've had the spring booster- lucky you, at least you'll be better protected. I wish I could have it too.Out of the people who've had 3 vaccinations AND a booster some will be eligible for a 2nd booster (the spring booster ,making it their 5th jab).

I was informed last Wednesday when I had my Booster (4th) Jab that there may be another one in Spring 5th Jab. Personally I am sick of them now as dont mind a flu Jab once a year but this is getting ridiculous. Also different vaccines each time. First 2 AZ then booster Pfizer last one Moderna .mixing all these dont think it's good . Dont think I will have anymore xxSheila 🙈🙈

I've been lucky had all four jabs of Pfizer, they say fifth I'm spring it is spring now

Apparently they researched it's better to have different vaccines as all give different protection. I was told next Spring for 5th Jab but it wasnt definite ,they are waiting to see the outcome of the virus. I dont think about it anymore, have been fortunate not to have caught it even though Never worn a mask. Most who catch it now dont suffer any symptoms or just like a cold.

It's fantastic to have a normal life back again

Take care xxSheila 💕

there is still a large nunber of people in hospital with it . just doesn't do so much damage now as it did , but still don't want to risk any hospital admission.
