Back in February while in Spain I had my first ever flare up ( copd) Doctor prescribed antibiotics and steroid injection and tablets, said I was close to pneumonia. I was pretty rough with wheezing, cough, breathing etc. But never having had steroid tablets before I wasn’t sure what to expect. I completely lost taste, could only taste a very strong mint . Obviously I am now wondering if I could have had covid 19, the first week in February there was no mention of covid in Spain, or here for that matter. I obviously will never know for sure unless I take an antibody test but is it a normal side effect to lose taste on steroid tablets ?

Loss of taste on steroids
I’ve never experienced that, but I expect others might have. An antibody test will tell you, if ever you have one offered to you!
I have had steroid tablets a few times and they have never affected my sense of taste. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, maybe it has for others.
Hi. I had what I thought was a copd flare up beginning of February put myself on to my emergency antibiotics and steroids but looking back there didnt seem to be much said about virus
We feel i may of had virus (usually flare last me about nearly 3 weeks. ) and the symptoms I had didnt seem to stay with me as long. And within a week hubby had similar symptoms. My respiratory nurse thinks virus to
Question about steroid the only problem I have is I eat a lot more. Not noticed a loss of taste. For me they help a lot but other people on the forum may have different reactions
No loss of taste caused by steroids here either, just increased reflux.
On the odd occasion I have had steroids, I haven’t had a loss of taste, but they do make me feel great & positive xx
No loss of taste for me eather
My friend has no taste( literally) but if she takes steroids ( about once a year) she can then taste things. She’s often asked her gp if she can have them for holidays 😂 but obviously he said it doesn’t work like that.
anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong..... i believe there's no guarantee that the antibody test is accurate especially after so long. If it comes up negative it doesnt mean you didn't have covid.
From experience antibiotics have messed with my sense of taste as have infections. P
