Gassy taste

Hi

The last couple of days I have been getting a bit more breathless than normal, it actually started yesterday, I was huffing trying to loosen muchas and I felt quite unwell after, this isn't the first time huffing has given me a bad experience, but this time I keep getting what I can only describe as a gassy taste in my mouth it kinda of comes and goes, but it really can be a vile taste.

Does anyone else experience this horrible taste and if so what normally triggers it, I'm wondering if it's the start of an exacerbation, and should I need to start antibiotics, your thoughts would be very much appreciated. Many thanks.

That sounds like reflux TG that has a nasty vile taste, not nice at all. Rennie works for me but some have to take prescription meds if it happens often.

Check in with your GP if this is a frequent occurrence

Yes I do take regular medication for reflux, also I sometimes take gaviscon in-between, I think I may try a spoonful, although this really does seem a bit different to what I normally feel. Don't you just hate all these different sensations related to lung desease, I sometimes times feel it's a constant one step forward and 2 steps back 😩

I do hate that reflux but thankfully I don't get it often now and when I do it responds to Rennie. I first got it because of the asprin cardiac dose and then had to take the prescribed medicine, but I am off asprin now and so don't get the reflux much at all. I find now it happens when I bend forward when I am past food time or if I eat too much fatty stuff especially late at night. Mind you I have a sliding hernia so that doesn't help either. Oh dear sharing, ailments :D - that's a sign of age ;)

I've had reflux for 20 years and been on esomeprazole for most of that time too, someone told me recently you are only supposed to be on that for about 6 months, not sure if that's correct or not, I guess if it is, it's a bit late now, lol. I was also diagnosed with diverticulitis about 18 months ago, and then Bronchiectasis in April of this year, so not a great combination I guess, it's certainly a sign of getting old I'm sure. I had a hernia repair op in late 2018 and I swear everything has been downhill since then, lol.

oh dear that sounds a bit drastic with the esomeprazole, assume you have been having your bloods checked regularly and they looked ok, possibly the reason the doc has left you on it. I was fine till the emphysema diagnosis then one thing after another, Hope I have had my last add on now.

Off to sleep shortly, nice chatting with you TG :)

I often get a nasty taste which for me is usually one of the signs of an exacerbation. You might want to get it checked out with your GP.

Good luck
