I am pretty much over a chest infection. I can smell things for instance toast and hot cross buns. But i can't taste anything at all. I had liver and bacon with broad beans and a dollop of ketchup for lunch. Didn't taste of anything at all. It makes eating a bit of a trial.

No sense of taste
Hopefully you’re sense of taste will return soon. Wishing you well. Xxxx

About a year ago (or actually longer ago now) I was really sick with the flu and since then I’ve lost my sense of smell. My taste is mostly ok. When I was sick everything tasted bad, like it had gone off. Mostly it’s fine now but sometimes I’ll get several days where everything tastes sour, or tastes of soap. I keep hoping my sense of smell will return. Hopefully your sense of taste will too 🤞
I lost my sense of smell as well, after an infection and it hasnt returned , am hoping this comes back when i have my sinus op x
I hope so too, for your sake. When are you having your sinus surgery? Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I had a similar situation but while some smells & tastes were gone I also found many distorted and outright foul. Very unpleasant and quite depressing too.
Now 2 weeks after my sinus op I have just about started to get some sense of smell & taste back - it’s wonderful!
It’s still “on and off”, seems to work better in the afternoon so far but hoping the gaps will disappear in the near future.
Best of luck with your op!
I could not taste or smell for 2 years. This is what took me to the GP and landed up with the COPD diagnosis. But she started with a dose of 6 carbocisteine a day. It cured the smell/ taste problem. Do you use this type of med?
Two years! Good grief. I'll keep that in mind. Yesterday i had lemon yogurt with banana and grapes. All i got was sour because that's was the tongue does
I lost my sense of smell after an infection over 12 months ago, but would sooner lose this than taste. I love my food and would feel robbed if I lost this, can the doctor not suggest something?? Or the hospital . Hope you get this back soon x
A stand in Doctor came round to my elderly Mum and said her ‘lack of taste’ and numbness in her foot and leg was down to ‘vitamin B12 deficiency.’ Something I had been asking her own Dr to consider for a long time.
Vitamin b12 is worth trying
