I have managed to get a slot every week with one of the supermarket's and am booked for a weekly delivery until May.
That took hours of searching and hoping in the middle of the night, but it paid off.
One problem is even with a weekly delivery we run out of Bread, Milk and Veg. We having lots of medical conditions have not broken self isolation. Not worth the risk.
We live in a village and we got lots of notices through the door offering to shop or help us shop. One a week we are replenished with volunteers,
These kind people deserve a huge cheer and a huge thank you for giving up their time to see we are OK for food.. Had it not been for these kind people we would have had to put ourselves in harms way with this wicked virus.
Has anyone else had the same experience?

It sounds like you’re one of the luckiest on here. There are poor people who can get no help whatsoever & are getting quite desperate, then there are the rest of us, somewhere in between! I’d be skin & bone if not for my family, been trying for online slots for weeks now but no luck.
Believe me I spent many hours getting slots. Iceland if you keep trying in the afternoon have slots at times, but to close for us... My daughter brought us some shopping but she lives miles away, and my youngest daughter lives in Manchester. It is hard I agree but the volunteers in the village are a godsend - If we did not get a slot, they would help,.
Happily I am in the same situation. There are sixty volunteers in my village. Plus there are the " Birchfield Buddies" our street messenger group. We look after each other by finding nappies, baby milk, calpol etc. Sadly after reading on this and other groups some people are not in the same situation. I have turned down three food boxes offered by the council as it is obvious there are others far more in need. Help for some without family locally is very patchy in some areas and there as been some desperate situations reported. My council rings once a week to check my situation.
Yes we are the lucky ones, Hanne62 above is not having such a good time. Bravo for refusing the food boxes, I refused to go the the most vulnerable list.. i must say the community spirit in most villages shows most people are very decent..
We already had a community help group to help the elderly with gardens, getting to the doctors etc before this horrible situation started. Which adapted and grew very quickly to deal with the extra demand. People say that the younger generation are uncaring but within my area they have shown a real community spirit.
Glad to hear you have good support where you live. There are some lovely helpful people out there. We have notes put through the door and neighbours shouting did we need anything.
Yes persevere with the supermarkets does pay off I spent a few evenings pressing buttons to get the elusive spot. Hubby got used to coming up to bed with me asleep with my finger ready on the supermarket page. I got my Sainsburys groceries this afternoon and Iceland coming tomorrow. So worth stopping up. Lol 🤗🤗
Morrison's as given me priority slots. We just sign in and it takes us straight to the available slots. No waiting for 30 minutes for 10,000 others inline before you. Both my wife and I have had letters and they sent us an email asking for our NHS numbers to confirm who we were. I sent them and they said I will have one priority slot a week.
Wish we had a Morrisons. Have used a Morrisons but it was near a town called Stalybridge(visiting relatives).. iive in the Midlands. But do like their cream cakes.. so have to make do with the other supermarkets
I have no experience with this Ern007 , but I just wanted to say it's wonderful to hear of communities coming together to help each other. In Japan we are "advised" to stay home as our constitution does not allow the government to enforce rules that restrict our movement . I'm so glad that you managed to get your slots sorted out. xx 🍀🐞
In my former life I used to do a weekly big shop and would pop out two or three times to top up with fresh fruit and veg and a foodie rest o two! It came as a huge shock to me to be limited to one shop a week, but my neighbours have been terrific. We are the only people shielding on our bit of the road we live on, and we have have had notes through the door from people we don’t even know!
