I can't believe how selfish people are being. There is nothing on the shelves and no online delivery slots for over 3 weeks.
If the virus doesn't get us, starvation might.
My daughter, who is not well off, but has 2 young children and a partner training to be a nurse, went shopping, earlier this week and was forced to pay premium prices, as the normal stock had run out. Whilst it is lucky that I can help her financially, I think it's awful that she has been put in that position. It also raises the question as to which people are stock piling - certainly not those on a low income that can only afford to shop on a week by week basis.
Sorry for the moan, but how can people be so thoughtless.

I agree, it really says a lot about the society we live in. My sister works for Tesco and said there were two men in store trying to take a whole pallet of toilet rolls to the checkout! It beggars belief.
I feel for all normal decent people trying to buy what they need.
We are like a alot of folk on here self isolating. I believe a lot of people like us seam to have no choice but consider going to the shops because delivery slots are not available. Our family said we are not to and they will try and get what we want but our daughter just out of hospital and our sons in police and they need all hands on deck. I believe you said your son is in the police sassy59 . We will owe our public services a big debt of gratitude. And our nhs workers will be the ones that deserve all the honours this country has to give after this is over xx
Yes our eldest son is a police officer and working hard like everyone else. The NHS staff are totally amazing and we owe them such a lot. Hoping everyone stays safe. Xxxx
If you are on Facebook ( I do not really like it) there are a growing number of ways of getting support if you are isolating. My village as set a volunteer group to fetch prescriptions etc. Two of the local shops are delivering basics to people in isolation. Most areas have a watch group and information is being put on there. We have set up a chat group for our street. ( The Birchfield Buddies) . As people shop they pick up bits for people who cannot get out. We also have a list of who as child paracetamol, etc in case of emergency. Within my area there are two farm shops that have locally sourced products. You could also try your local milkman. Or local one as just taken on three extra men to deal with all his new orders for basics like bread cheese eggs etc...He also does toilet rolls!
Exactly the same where I live. My husband shopped this morning & expected to find some things short or sold out but not almost everything on the list. No eggs, bread, pasta, rice, bacon, tinned or frozen veg, teabags, coffee, long life or fresh milk, yoghurt, loo rolls, the list goes on. Plenty of fresh veg/fruit, sausages & fresh chicken though.
On top of everything else, we can probably expect the resurrection of ration books in the near future.
It would stop the idiocy that is going on at the moment. My friend went this morning and came out with dog food and gravy! In many ways I am very lucky living in a rural area. The farm shops are full and the local village shops are coping well with demand. The local coop as had rationing for the last 7 days. You can only buy two of anything period.
Good lateral thinking from your mate BB and i hope i will still get my 25 % discount on 6 bottles of wine or maybe it will be 8.3333 % recurring given the ruling. :).
Dreadful !!! Selfish people. I myself got to Sainsburys for an hour slot first thing and I took a chance... I did get tea bags and milk at normal prices
Yes it is extremely selfish to take whole shelves of things in one go!
We are glad that we are well stocked here and always bought a bit extra when times were good just in case there was a time we couldn't go to the shops to get things but would never dream of taking a whole shelf of anything though!
Yesterday we took items to the local foodbank who were thankful for them.
I too am surprised every time I see the news from the U.K. Empty shelves, no milk (?!) even? No bread? It's quite shocking. I am sending my mum a care package next week. Here we have not come to that and hopefully never will. Although we lack hand sanitizer and masks.
I am sorry for your daughter anng18 . It must be very worrying for her as she has little ones. People are going off their heads. I really hope sense prevails very soon. Take good care of yourself too.
Same here dear Cas , the shops here in Norway are fully stocked as normal and people are shopping in a normal manner. It seems surreal reading what people are saying about the empty shelves in the UK. I don't understand why everyone is needing to buy so much there ☹️
I'm sure your mum will be happy to get her care package from you 😊
I also cannot understand Huff. I saw a picture of a woman with a trolley pilled high with toilet paper in the U.K. 😲 I hope you are enjoying yourself. If you can, don't rush back to the U.K. I think you are better off where you are even though you are sans 🐑 sheep. xx ❤️😘
It occurred to me today that panic buying is a health risk, particularly to those who are doing it. The longer a person spends in a shop, the more likely they are to become infected or to infect others. Since they are panic buying in response to the virus, it would be interesting to see their reaction if they were told it was counter-productive and might increase their risk of catching it!
