Bad night, good day

I live on the U.S. Gulf Coast, where we have endured one of the hottest Septembers in history. Day after day of heat indexes above 100 degrees. Thankfully, it's eased up a bit and is now just in the high 80s to low 90s.

At around midnight last night, my air conditioning unit quit, leaving me in a house with 79 degree temps. Could have been worse, but I still didn't sleep.

AC man came in the morning and made a simple fix (burned out fan motor)

Just before noon, I decided to do something that I had only done once in the 3 years since my diagnosis. I got in my car and drove 45 minutes to the Gulf of Mexico, jumped in the water and went swimming. What a pleasure that was.

I don't know how I was feeling well enough to do that, but I'm grateful. Such a joy to swim on such a beautiful day. Well, maybe not swim, but I sure did splash around in the cool Gulf waters.

I have been taking 10mg. of prednisone for the last couple of weeks. I'm well aware of the horrors of steroids, but if they allow me one beautiful day at the Gulf, it just might be worth it.

PS: I am probably Stage II emphysema/asthma and not on 02. I've been walking religiously every morning for months, 2 to 3 miles.

That sounds really hot to me challny and I hope things are cooling down now.

Pete takes 10mg of steroid every day too and they seem to help him.

Keep doing what you’re doing and good wishes to you. Xxxxxx

I hope as the temperatures cool you start to feel much better in yourself challny.

Have you considered that it could just be the heat that has caused you to feel not so good in the last few months?

I would definitely find it difficult to even go outside in those temperatures never mind walking in them! It must be a struggle?

RedSox I was born in Queens. Sorry to say, but I'm not a baseball fan, though I remember seeing Mantle and Maris at Yankee Stadium as a kid.

I really understand that fantastic feeling of pure joy you experienced. Last year my consultant suggested I go on a course of predlisone and I can't ever remember a time as to how well I felt. In fact I felt so good I felt I could take on anything. It wasn't to last. My doctor wasn't happy for me to be on them for any length of time and once I came off them everything went back to my normal self. I would love to experience that wonderful energy again. Life is short so enjoy it while you can.
