Another beautiful day on the ranch
Cold and wet here Davey but spared the earthquakes! The whole earth is stirring isnt it. I am worried about the meaning of the many quakes though. They usually preclude a volcanic eruption. Greece is suffering enough without that happening too . you don't have that worry on Rhodes i think but the fires have done a lot of damage already. I hope you are ok in your part of Rhodes now your fire has been dealt with . Is the temperature still as high.? The TV has shown Evia and that is horrific. We are sending a team of fire fighters to help. They are experienced with controlling the moorland fires we get here but we don't have the trees on fire like Greece does. The trees on fire are frightening. Santorini has the Kolumbo volcano just off the coast and 0 the island itself is heavily monitored i dont know the others , but Nissyros is only the volcano, no where to go.., a nd houses on thr rim of the main crater. I had to give a talk on the Santorini volcano and the eruption that destroyed it to a local geology group here so had to research on lot on that, we don't have speakers but have to give a talk in turn .30 members and one talk a month so I can sit back and listen for a while.
Take care, we will be thinking of you all.
The nearest volcano is Santorini but there are some flutes in the seas all around the Greek islands , the seismologist here said were over due a big one by about seventy years and last year's huge amount of smaller quakes brought into question if we were getting ready for the big one , were on three different fault lines here on Rhodes two Infront which is our side of the island and a large one at the rear of us so what as been said is that when we do have the big one were probably looking at an 8 to 8.5 if not a little bigger , the last big one was 2008 which was a 7.4 off our coast line in mandraki and it ripped the side off the paniari church in our village along with damaged shops and home's . So I wouldn't want to think about a 8.5or bigger π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
Miserable weather here Davey. You stay safe and take care. Xxxπ
Will do make sure you keep safe , π
I often moan that our British weather is always so changeable and our Summer's are so unreliable. However, living in your part of the world must be so frightening at the moment not knowing what will happen next. I look at the news with pure horror and pray rain will come soon. Take care.RR
We won't be getting any rain for quite some time probably October end of or November that is if we even get a winter this year , it's ok this minister in the UK saying that it's no good waiting two years or five years it needs to be addressed now it should have been addressed years ago , and then Boris Johnson saying that Margaret Thatcher started climate care by shutting down the mines the man hasn't got a grip on reality πΉπ€£πΉπΉ
World leaders need to come together to deal with these world wide problems. Flooding, earthquakes, forest fires. Its a wake-up call.
David Attenborough as been saying this for years and nobody listened the only way the government will do anything is if they get money and the answer to the problem isn't going to cost anything πΉπΉπ
Hi Davy. Hope nothing awful happens today (or any other day). Your small earthquakes sound quite big enough to me, probably bigger than the Great Essex Earthquake which happened in Victorian times.
When you live here you get so used to the small quakes you don't even notice them , but I've been looking at all the cracks around the house and so far this year I've found an extra fifteen and existing ones getting deeper no good standing in a door way here or hiding under a table πΉπΉ
Can you have anything else thrown at you .....unbelievable what you've had there to date. Stay safe
Well I'm waiting for the plague of locusts frogs falling from the skies and Boris Johnson coming out and telling the truth about something πΉπΉπΉπΉπ€£π€£π€£π€£
Well I think the plague of locusts is the more likely event.
That and Noah appearing with another boat πΉπΉπΉπΉ
Just made the biggest mistake out ! Just went to sit outside on my chair without my shirt on sat down leaned back and burnt myself , my neighbor across the road was laughing at me and turned his hose on and soaked my chair for me so now sat in wet shorts but cool πΉπΉπΉπΉ
A lot of awful things happening in your part of the world Davey1963. Feel so sorry for those whoβve lost their homes Weβve had lots of rain so Iβm hoping places wonβt be flooded X
Doesn't seem to matter where you look on the planet just now disasters are springing up left right and centre , north Korea is flooded and have food crisis it's bad all over . No one can deny we were all warned years ago about this day coming . And no I wasn't one of those guys with a sandwich board saying the end is Nye πΉπΉ
Well Davey my son the good news is they have sent firefighters over from the uk and hope they can all get together and come up with a solution them fires are crazy.
Tell me about it we've got french German American British and God knows who else all on the case . I'm at hospital waiting for this doctor to find out what it is with my leg . So could be here for a while π‘π‘π

Hope nothing too serious.
Right the growth is Benign but as grown from inside my bone , they can remove it but feel best to leave alone but still want to have regular checks on it , my white blood cells count is high due to a lung infection so now on antibiotics and steroids and have to see pulmonologist next week for a check up , my BP is low and my O2 levels drop big time after I've had a coughing bout like I had today while having my levels checked . So not good all in all as healthy as can be expected .
Hello Davey I also live on an island , Mallorca Spain, although I am Australian, I had made you my mind to move back to Aus. On 2019 however covid put an end to that.On Thursday I go to see the oncologist I have been dropped from my previous radiothetapist as they can no longer treat me , no enough healthy cells in my lungs so strangely as my daughter said this morning how mad is it to be excited about seeing an oncologist ,a day out, and both burst into giggles too much lockdown. We keep positive however and don't have your problems with fires and earthquakes we do have a problem with no rain, I envy those folk in Britain. Please keep well cheerful and optimistic.
Regards fellow islander.
Pam
Hi Pam , must admit I envy those in England with the rain , sounds stupid that you can miss some of the strangest things from home . I always wanted to go to Australia I have two really good friends both Australian Greek , they were born here in the same village and both lived in Adelaide . Now both back here in their home village . On my bucket list I had to ride a motorcycle from one.side.of.america to the other or do the same in Australia . Now sadly I won't do either , earthquakes we have almost every day some you feel most you don't so I tend not to worry . Keep in touch it's nice to chat to a fellow islander ππ stay safe
The lump is Benign so they don't want to mess with it , my white blood cells count is due to a lung infection so on antibiotics and steroids so I will rattle for a while πΉ but I have to go back regularly so they can monitor the lump I've also got to go to see the pulmonologist next week aswell as have yet another CT scan of lungs . All in all not too bad . Thanks for asking . ππππ
Hi DaveyJust received you post from yesterday.
The weather here is ghastly hot we seem to be hitting 40 for the next few days.Hard to breathe when there is hardly any air.
I'm interested in your friends from Adelaide my daughter was born there.
I also have a cousin in Karpathos one of the pelopanese group.
She was born in AUSTRALIA but returned with her parents years ago.
Keep those darn earthquakes away..
Greece seems to have monumental problems at the moment...keep safe how are the vaccinations going on your island we are about 60% done at the moment.
Regards
PAM
