Travel Insurance after lung surgery

My wife, aged 73 was diagnosed with lung cancer 12 months ago and subsequently underwent a left upper lobectomy.

We are now hoping to undertake a cruise to Scandinavia and are seeking travel insurance.

Has anybody discovered a travel insurance company who might be able to assist?

Hi Boaterjohn, a cruise to Scandinavia sounds a lovely idea.

Some years ago when I was going round in circles trying to find insurance, one of the companies who'd turned me down suggested I phone the British Insurance Brokers Association. BIBA took all my details and then found me an insurance company who would take me on. The company they found was WorldWide Insurance and I've insured with WW Ins. again since so haven't needed to use BIBA again, but I'd recommend them as a starting point as they saved me a lot of phoning and stress at the time. Their website is biba.org.uk, telephone 0370 950 1790 or email enquiries@biba.org.uk

As I said, that was many years ago now, but I hope you find they are still as helpful.

Good luck with your quest!

Jan :)

Hi. Just bought reasonable annual travel insurance from Free Spirit. Very easy to apply too. Honestly thought l would be refused as l am 75 years old, have bronchiectasis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and a heart problem. Bought online. Regards Maureen.

Hope you both enjoy a lovely cruise to Scandinavia.

Last year we had two river cruises booked (Danube and Elbe) and had to cancel both as I wasn’t well enough. The company were marvellous (Viking) as they refunded our deposit both times, minus a small admin fee. We thought our future plans would have to stay in the UK as my cancer is terminal. Don’t know if it makes a difference..... Joan
