It’s been a long time since we had starlings in our garden. Usually it’s magpies and pigeons on rotation!

Again, brilliant photo Marc, it has been many years since I have seen many starling' around, but a very interesting & lovely photo.. I notice quite a 👍remarkable change in your Mindset now Marc, which I am totally delighted to see, as you don't require to make any adjustments, you are doing everything right,& as you have now adopted an extremely Positive attitude, you will be a winner every step of the way..Kind regards,& take care,💘 Primrose 123..xx ( Maria)

Thank you Maria,As I said I knew I had copd 13 years ago but I didn't read up about it.I just plodded on.Now I have looked into it.

I now think I may have a chance as the progression can be very slow.

I have had 3 lung function tests over 3 years and I am told it is stable.

I am still struggling a bit mentally with it all, but this website is very helpful.

I am seeing a psychologist privately to help with things he has pointed me in the direction of mindfulness, also my pulmonary Consultant is very helpful.

I also have a knowledge of stoicism which also is helpful.

Finally having studied christianity I could be described as 60% christian and 40% not sure.

But this combination of help and philosophy is helping to point me in the right direction.

The good points are my copd was spotted when I was 47 and I stopped smoking then, and not 20 years later when my lungs would be in a worse condition.

I have money for treatment.

I don't have any other ailments.

Annie my partner is great.

There are many other blessings.

Thank you for mentioning my positive outlook.

Lovely photo. Is the starling looking out for the squirrel?

The starlings have all but disappeared from my garden. I read yesterday that all the new housing is to blame as they are taking away the natural habitat for birds. A great photo Marc x

You will see more in summer, a good number migrate to France and thereabouts for thewinter, but not all depending where you are amd how severe winter is.

We get loads of starlings here in Essex, absolute gannets but beautiful feathers. We've started getting parakeets, they are amazing to watch.

Yes leo,I have not seen any recently. The parakeets often appear now. They get huge numbers of starlins over Rome.

leo60 profile image
leo60 in reply toMarc1965

I have only seen wild parakeets in London, wonder if they will make their way down south? xx

Marc1965 profile image
Marc1965 in reply toleo60

We get them just outside west London and I have seen them in Herefordshire.

leo60 profile image
leo60 in reply toMarc1965

Oh really! I wouldn't mind seeing them around! But do they affect our native birds at all do you know? xx

Marc1965 profile image
Marc1965 in reply toleo60

Yes I think they do affect them a bit.

We have a lot in the garden, they don't seem to bother the little birds, they feed together nicely, but the magpies shoo everyone off.

leo60 profile image
leo60 in reply toShirleyj

I don't like Magpies, especially at this time of year when they steal baby birds! xx

Cool photos! You must have an abundance of patience! I wish we'd see parakeets and starlings. We get red bellied and piliated woodpeckers, doves, cardinals, blue jays and chickadees mostly. Hummingbirds are here right now and usually stay April to September.

Thank you for your kind reply Marc, you will just have to keep looking forward 👍 & put all the past behind you now,all that is required now is for you to be confident, & you have plenty to be confident about, you are certainly in a good place now Marc, many people would give a lot to be in your current position... In my humble opinion, if you just remind yourself whatever the situation may be, just tell yourself "I CAN & I WILL DO THIS", you will sail through life..You are a real role model for many COPD patients, Marc, you are doing everything properly, so you certainly have "Nothing "to worry about..You are always in my thoughts and prayers 🙏Take care, with best wishes & much love 💘 to you & Annie..xxMaria...xx
