I have COPD and had a bronchoscopy and felt fine after but woke in the night gasping for breath and it was bad most of the night . Only a microwave bag helped enough for me to eventually sleep.
I expected the sore lungs and throat after probably having a saline flush and a biopsy or two but the pain went on for 3 days and I can no longer go outside and walk more than 10 steps without gasping.
This is worse than I was before the procedure . I have been like this a week now and am worrying this is how it is from now on.
Please can someone who has had this procedure tell me my breathing will return to the way it was before as I'm scared of being housebound now.

When I had my Bronchoscopy I was given a contact number incase I needed it. If I was you I would contact where you had it done for advice or NHS 111 just for reassurance or/and advice
I had a Bronchoscopy to insert 4 valves , never had much Pain. You must contact your Consultant or her Secretary, she will Deal with this even over the weekend. I do feel for you Hun. Let us know how you get on. xxxxx
I had this done in February 2018 and all I was left with was a annoying cough although I will say I was more breathless afterwards ,but it soon went..I've since had an op of LVRS and the difference is amazing .I had that in Oct 2018 and I'm getting stronger everyday .I'm going in on Tuesday of next week to have another Bronchoscopy and specimens taken from my right lung as they have now found something growing in that lung although they said it's not cancer .I feel you should get in touch with where you had your procedure as you shouldn't be in this much discomfort .I wish you well .
