Hi. I last posted around 3 years ago regarding my back pain and gall stones and so on. It has now come down to me going for a Bronchoscopy this coming Friday 26/05/2023.
I had been having some blood in my sputum every now and again dating back to last August some 9 months ago.
My Doc has been fantastic trying his best with getting me my x-rays, Scans, and lung function tests done. So now I am going on Friday to have the Bronchoscopy done.
My fear is being diagnosed with Cancer is there anyone who could maybe shed a bit of light on this kind of thing.
Kind regards.
John.

Hi. I am trying to be as positive as much as I can, it's just been a long slog from last August & the waiting has done nerves no good. Thank you for the positive reply. Kind regards. John. x
Hello John99, hope tommorrow goes well. On the up side I was like you similar symptoms, in 2008 was told it was Emphysema or COPD as its called today . It was just a flare up but spent 2years visiting the hospital lung cancer clinic. I prefer to call it chronic airway failure. But I hope for you it is a treatable condition. It causes so much stress while they investigate I went on a research project too. It was an aweful time so I appreciate your concern s . Good luck and every best wish.
It was not as bad as I thought it would be can't remember much about it ha ha as sore throat is all I can say had my dinner earlier and a few hours sleep. Now to wait on the results. Thank you so much for the mail with the support. Many thanks.
Glad to hear it all went well, I was given a number to ring the cancer nurse if concerned, she confirmed it was not cancer. But had to wait a while to see consultant to discuss outcome and two years of varied tests as they said a possible cancer and tests did not totally rule it out. It was confirmed as COPD in 2008 by a specialist at Leicester specialty clinic. How long before you know ,? have they given you any idea? These things are taking longer these days I hear which is not good for the patient concerned.
John, my consultant told prior to a broncoscopy that there are a lot of things that show in X-ray and scans not only cancer. I had a mass showing on my X-ray and I was given a broncoscopy to find out what it was, it was quickly identified as not cancer. After a biopsy it was found to be an aspergillioma and I got my aspergillosis diagnosis
Hi. Thank you for letting me know this it does help a lot. The procedure was not as bad as I thought so that was a bonus. Now to wait on results. Cheers,
