Sorry to hear that Alice, some bugs take 6 weeks treatment and/or a combination of antibiotics. You need to see the specialist again.

Hi Alice

similar tale

I have had a chest infection for a month and I am now on fourth course of Antibiotics.

I started with a broad spectrum Antibiotics then Doxycycline which I couldn’t tolerate next was clarithromycine then had sputum test and told to stop clarithromycine.

Dr. ha now put me on Augmentin. Hopefully this will sort it

Keep well

Hi Alice, my haemophilus is sensitive to Oxytetracycline, Doxycycline and Augmentin but three weeks of Oxytetracycline and I’m no better so feeling pretty peed off. Took Amoxycillin then Clarythromicin before that so will have to call the respiratory nurse again. Can’t recall when I was free of a chest infection in the past year! Hope we’re both better soon. Big hug xxx
