My 22 year old daughter has just been diagnosed with mesothelioma in her left lung. She has had no known exposure to asbestos & is the youngest person in Australia to be diagnosed with this cancer.
I’m completely shocked & confused
Her initial biopsy results were clear of cancer, but a specialist mesothelioma pathologist in another state has confirmed this diagnosis
We are meeting with the medical team from a major hospital in a couple of days. They are talking about treatment/surgery/treatment but are still developing a plan.
I’m desperate for information from people who have survived this disease & any other helpful advice.

I just want to wish your dear daughter well and hope she gets the right treatment for this horrible cancer. Thinking of you and your family too at this difficult time. Xxxx
You must be so anxious about your daughter. I hope the medical team you''re going to see will come up with the best way of treatment. Sending positive thoughts and wishing you both well. Sheila xx
So sorry to hear about your daughter. You must be so worried about her.
I looked up Mesothelioma/Australia online and there was a lot of information which I guess you've seen. My brother, who lives in Queensland had excellent treatment for his cancer. Hope you get the best possible treatment for her.
Please look at the following on Google pembrolizumab mesothelioma.
Pembrolizumab has recently been authorised by the British National Health Service for treatment of mesothelioma - previously it could only be given to private patients. (I realise you are in Australia.) I believe it is a new immunotherapy drug. You and your daughter are in my thoughts and I hope everything goes well when you see the medical team and the treatment they give will be successful. With love from England.
I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter and hope she gets the best treatment possible.
There is a wonderful lady on Facebook called Mavis Nye. She has survived mesothelioma for many years; it has returned but she is doing well now and fighting it well. There are surviors of this illness even though it is a difficult one. A young lady in her 20s called Danielle Smalley you can also find on facebook in the UK who is doing well after surgery which would be great fot your daughter to connect with. Another lady called Heather Von St James who is also on Facebook. She had surgery in America and was exposed to asbestos as a young child from her father's overalls. It has been iver 10 years and she has not had mesothelioma again since ☺ please be hopeful and gain as much advice from these women who are fighters and an inspiration for people with this disease and don't lose hope.
