Holiday Insurance

Hi All

I am told that the BLF has a list of insurers that will insure COPD and Bronchiectasis patients for holidays.

Can someone point me in the direction of the list please.

Thanks

Alan

You can also access the links under 'My hub' at the top. Go down to Resources and click on View all your resources and click on that. All the info is there. x

Hi 👋 I tried one allclear from the rsa disability’s mag and filled the questionnaire in and got two quotes £680. £685. More than the holiday costs total rip-off. Good hunting. 👋

The premium quoted is related to the probability that you will make a claim.

Travel insurance cost varies dependant on:

Where you are going eg (assuming you're in UK/Eu) USA will be more expensive than Europe

Your age.

How long you are going for.

What you are doing - skiing/cruising will be more than lying on the beach.

What your ailments are, what condition you are in, what meds you are on, when you were last treated, when you were last in hospital, what investigations you are waiting for, if your meds have been changed recently etc.

There are specialist companies that will price themselves out of some destinations and others that specialise in them.

So, to get the best price be prepared to spend some time searching & filling in medical details.

You need a good search - a comparison site is worth a go in the first instance and can save you a lot of time.

Medical Travel Compared, I've had great results - it found 'Get Going' quoting £29 for me & OH, 10 days in Egypt, with COPD & historical heart condition, high cholesterol, high blood pressure & 7 tablets & 2 inhalers per day. Since used them also for France, Cyprus & Canaries

Hi Alan, I have tried them all but because of my many complaints I can no longer get annual insurance (according to my last insurer) I could only get trip by trip insurance and the prices quoted were terrible. I had resigned myself to using Fish who are recommended by Health Unlocked and buying trip by trip. Last week I received an email from All Clear who I had not tried. Success, I have an annual policy covering all my ailments and although it is dearer than last year it was cheaper than all the rest would have charged if they had been willing to cover me. Try them if Fish will not cover you. Good luck and enjoy your trip. Maximonkey

Be careful, It's better to buy insurance through insurers themselves rather than brokers who add a nice little commission on for themselves.

If you are travelling to the USA or Caribbean, it can be very expensive, but not so bad for Europe. Cruise cover is particularly expensive.

'Medical travel compared' is quite a good comparison site I've found.

They all use the same criteria in the declarations you have to fill in.

Thanks everyone

I also tried a nationally advertised company and the cost of the holiday was £650 the insurance quote was £680 so I didn't bother.

It may have been that they didn't want the business and were quoting high so I wouldn't accept it but it has put me off trying anywhere else.

I would be going to Fuertaventura for 10 days.

I will keep looking.

Thanks to james48 for the link to medicaltravelcompared.co.uk

I filled in the online form for a quote and got a lot of replies.

The best one for my 10 days in Fuertaventura is £68 which I am very happy with.

I never take the cheapest option and even the one I like is still less than £100 so I think

I will be using them when its time to go.

Not what you're looking for?
