Need some advice or info. re: lung congestion that I thought it was a respiratory infection.

My symptoms was coughing up lots of yellowish mucus and congested for over a week. I thought I had some type of respiratory lung infection like bronchitis or virus etc... I went to my doctor and ordered a x-ray, and he said that " I didn't have any type of infection. I didn't know that x-ray can diagnose that. He did give me antibiotics and short course of oral steroid. He told me it's because of cold weather and causing inflammation because of my asthma creating mucus production. I hate taking antibiotics and oral steroid. I do have ventolin and qvar for my asthma but I hate taking them also unless I have to. The question I have for everyone who replies is....Did any of the medication mentioned above helped them with the same symptoms?

Thinking about using Colloidal silver as oral and nebulizing it. I heard good success with it.

Thank you for any replies,

Sagittar

Please remain aware:

What the Science Says About the Safety and Side Effects of Colloidal Silver

Colloidal silver can cause serious side effects. The most common is argyria, a bluish-gray discoloration of the skin, which is usually permanent.

Colloidal silver can also cause poor absorption of some drugs, such as certain antibiotics and thyroxine (used to treat thyroid deficiency).

The FDA also warned in 1999 that colloidal silver isn’t safe or effective for treating any disease or condition.

The FDA and the Federal Trade Commission have taken action against a number of companies for making misleading claims about colloidal silver products.

nccih.nih.gov/health/silver... - Last Updated: April 2017

and

Colloidal silver is LIKELY UNSAFE when taken by mouth, applied to the skin, or injected intravenously (by IV). The silver in colloidal silver products gets deposited in vital organs such as the skin, liver, spleen, kidney, muscle, and brain. This can lead to an irreversible bluish skin discoloration that first appears in the gums. It can also stimulate melanin production in skin, and areas exposed to the sun will become increasingly discolored.

It seems to me you have already made your mind up as you don't like taking the ventolin that is prescribed so how is it supposed to help you if you don't take it . You seem to be contradicting what you say as your asking for other people's advice but when you get told to be very careful you say oh want to listen to the other side of the findings on an unsafe medication.trust me when anti biotics and steroids save your live like they have helped with me in my fight back to life you would not be speaking like you are .. I hope your not taking my words as an attack you just don't seem serious or obviously not too concerned in your own wellbeing .. take Drs advice . I wish you well!

Hi Kemety,

Yes, I'm very stubborn......Because I don't like taking meds doesn't mean I don't use it. I do take it...when necessary....trying other alternative do help me reduce my medication....but I do try to find other alternatives to control my symptoms. According to what I see in others that are so dependent on their medication....that's all they use and not try anything to lower their dose by other means...So their medication long term have to be prescribe at a higher strength just to control it. I'm not saying to stop their meds....but if something helps you reduce your meds....why not! My post above is my own research on what's working re: meds or remedies they are using that works. Did you notice on my post that the doctors said that I don't have any infection ( is he right or wrong) ....That being said, why take antibiotics.....I had to ask the question because I wanted everyone experience with their meds if it worked for them or not.... my post is for my own knowledge and research with the same experiences symptoms I'm having. I'm just getting some input on what working for everyone and not working. That's all....Yes, I'm stubborn...LOL

I do appreciate you reply...no worries...smile

Yes no nastiness intended by my previous reply .. I too take medication on my own terms . I'm not keen on docs prescribing the same meds to the same people as everyone is different right ?? I felt like I was being given a whole load of meds week in week out but I wasnt improving so I did my own trials on my meds and now on inhalers and not too much else but saying that my lung disease is very very rare and progressive so I feel I know my body better than anyone and also know what works best ... so hope as I did say earlier I hope all goes well and you get the answers your looking for .. Oh and I have had an x-ray and been told I had pneumonia twice and also had sputum samples and been told I have an infection so defo both ways have detected infection so your doc may have already done a sputum sample to decide infection you didn' t mention if that was the case I don' think ... He told me that the x-ray showed No infection.... basically he was looking for pneumonia and not other bacterial infection. It was a immediate care walk in type clinic...so you are the mercy of different doctors on duty.

I should have asked for a sputum test. I went ahead and took the 5 course antibiotics just incase. If the symptoms continues after the course...I will ask for a sputum test. I Will take the short course of prednisone to help with inflammation of the lungs. Been coughing and expelled a lot of mucus.

Again, thanks for your input and reply...sagi

Sagittar, you are dealing with your health. Please avoid the quack medications, and instead take the ventolin, steroids and antibiotics and you WILL get better. I do not like taking steroids or antibiotics any more than you, but they have saved my life, and in a severe exacerbation they are all that really works. Best Wishes, judg69.

Sagittar, again , I also absolutely hate steroids in particular, but when I need them, I need them. As soon as I am better, I start tapering off so I can get off them ASAP.Best Wishes , judg69.

Hi there, steroids prescribed as a short course during exasperations work very well and are a simple, effective option. Long term drug use is something to be tailored and managed by yourself and the doctor according to which works well for you. Alerternative medicines can help too but avoid ones that are already blacklisted like the one you mention. Always investigate before use. There are lots of basic things like ginger that releive congestion. Good luck with finding what suits you .

Also qvar is a corticosteroid, same as our Clenil - minute dose usually 2 inhalations, twice daily. It needs to be taken regularly over time to be effective at controlling inflammation - it's not an 'as required' drug.
