Rehab assessment
Hi
Yes quite normal, just a informal chat to ask your goals. There may be few test, blood pressure is one, to make sure your suitable and not at risk.
Possible a six minute walk test to gauge before and after.
Nothing to be alarmed about.
Hi stone-uk thank u for that was worried. I have waited 16 weeks to go on course and when I got the letter asking to go for a assessment it worried me .. Yet to find out if I have alpha 1 had blood test done but my go does not know how to read it . Will the nurses at course have my notes
No worries, just as stone-UK said. I will add this, you are going to have a great time on the course. Suck it all in, to remember it all afterwards, I wish I was going again.
Just finished my course. It was great, we all liked it and gained a lot from it. It is run by physics not nurses.you will get out of breath with sore muscles but you will get stronger, fitter and full of information. You also tell them what post course exercise you will do and there are maintenance sessile, I shall go monthly. They look after you while doing the exercises to make sure you don't overdo it. In short it is brilliant.
It's all very informal, although they do take your health very seriously. Lilian xxxxxx
I was referred to rehab by the hospital, but in our area they only take people at stage 3 onwards. I was given a little advice by rehab, but I wasn't considered suitable for rehab yet. However I have joined our local breatheasy group where I am at least able to get more advice and support.

They will ask you to do a 6minute walk test to gauge what distance you travel say 300 mtrs. At the end of the course they will ask you to do it again to see how much you have improved. They monitor you through the walk to see how you are coping, if for any reason you need to stop, stop. They will also ask about your general health and ailments, all nothing to worry about at all. They are usually very friendly people.
Good luck but try to enjoy you meet some good people there.

Great course and well worth doing
Just finished another course after two year break, am
re-motivated to carry on. You will really enjoy it and if you
take on board the help available you will benefit greatly.
Hi, I wish I had known about these courses and that my Mum could have attended years ago when they would have been useful. It was at the assessment for this that I first met a specialist nurse who pointed us in the right direction to the appropriate care and explained what Mum should be accessing. They seem really good.
I am half way through my rehab and I am loving it. I haven't felt this well for a long time. Good luck with yours.
