I would ask Citizens Advice to help you fill in the forms. They know the right answers to put. Your having a dog should be irrelevant; it's the state of your health that's important. Remember to tell them how you are on your worst days-don't try to be a brave little soldier. Good luck.
Thing is with dogs they are great friends even though they are greedy and great company!
Up here at the local community centre they have citizens advice there every 2 weeks on a Friday and they are very good!
Many years ago when I was 17 I remember going to the citizens advice and there was a massive queue there to ask about getting social services involved in regard to my father's attitude as we all reckoned he was abusing my brother!
Back in the July of 2022 when we all received those notices at the old place to leave I had noticed that they had put an early date to leave on someone else's notice that was invalid but said to go to citizens advice to check and how there's always a queue there!
I noticed my notice had lots of mistakes but had never said anything to string them along and all they did was waste their own time and I had received a notification saying they were sending me a new notice as the old one was invalid and it took 10 months to get me out due to me stringing them along and not saying when they had made mistakes on the court form and the initial notice!
I don't think citizens advice and the dwp care about who has a dog and who doesn't!
I got criticised for going to swimming whilst I was out of work as the person who criticised claimed it wasn't fair that I supposedly was swanning around having luxuries and no swimming wasn't some little luxury it was important for my mental and physical health!
Sadly that leisure centre closed down at the end of January as they went bankrupt and I was devastated over it but I'm doing OK now.
I have leaned to shrug off the claims and intrusion by the NOT inflicted, Either not inflicted with the health problems of others OR not Inflicted by not having a brain cell. HOHUM!!
Spaniels are amazing company... they do tend to pull a bit on lead ... invest in a figure of 8 lead or a head collar of sorts it gives you far more control and slows the dogs down to your pace ...If your son could see his way to getting a dog walker a few days a week for you it would help immensely...
Or take the dog to a private field where you can let them off to run free while you move at your own pace .
thanks blackbird my son takes her every evening because she's frit of traffic and people she has intense runabout in Aylestone meadows.now weather us improving going to take her Rutland water she will love it there it's only 15 miles up the road.she was previously used for puppy farming
hi I had the same problem I got citizens advice they filled all the form in were so understanding as for your dog yes you should have a dog I do you say your son pays the bills for your dog so what has that got to do with anyone its between you and your son hope you are successful in your application
Citizens advice are very good aren't they and they come to us on the estate every fortnight at the Friday pantry to save a trip into the city centre and I found they were very nice!
Having a dog is not only good for your mental wellbeing but it's also good for your physical health, people with respiratory disorders are advised to exercise and what better way than walking your dog. Ignore the haters and enjoy your friend
Dogs are great friends even though they pinch your fruit and sandwiches on a picnic!
A very spoilt dog stole my sandwich in the park and got told off by its owner and put back on the lead and she took the sandwich away from the dog and apologised and offered to replace it!
that's exactly what poppy did.we had only had her 2 months a couple were sitting in the park eating chicken sandwiches the next thing poppy snatched it from the woman luckily they saw the funny side.
My mate has an extremely spoilt beagle called Poppy who was 5 in September and had a birthday party and another has a British blue cat called Poppy who is 19!
Poppy was just a pup when she did that!
I was forgiving after the dog stole the sandwich as well!
The Government have a contract with Citizens Advice to help people transfer to UC. Make sure you tell them that you have medical condition(s) as you are then classed as vulnerable.
I’m going through it now with Universal credit. My daughter is our appointee so does all our form filling etc. They have sent her a work capability form yet I still have to attend the job centre this Friday and even my daughter doesn’t understand why as she informed them I’m immune suppressed and not well. They just don’t listen. I’m hoping Friday is the last day as they said it can take 3 months to decide, I’m hoping I don’t have to attend every week! I’m really not well enough for it, I never go out only to hospital or doctors.
Good luck Wendy, wear a mask to protect you from bugs won't you - also take a copy of your prescription for extra proof. . Its such a horrible process and you shouldn't have to go through it.
fightback4justice.co.uk/ a Non Profit CIC offering expert Welfare Benefit advice on PIP, ESA, DLA & UC are the best for all things DWP related. Highly recommend them, have used several times for PIP and recently for UC Migration. They will give general advice for free but I use the monthly VIP membership (which you can start/stop/restart at any time), that way I can search the document vault for all the info I need, they will critique your completed form before you send it to DWP, giving advice on anything that might be added/removed etc. You can also talk to them on the phone if you are prefer. Blessings & Light. x
make sure you take your daughter or somebody with you as if your claiming because your not fit to work they fail you as they see you as being fit enough to have attended 1 appointment therefore you are able to work in their minds sent off for form when I failed 1st time I'd been failed on that I was docked points also said I was well groomed so went in clothes with stains on next time
Best thing to to is ask them if it's OK to bring a friend or relative along with you for support in the appointment even if all they do is just sit in the waiting room with you.
I always get my son sitting in on appointments then I have a witness still who's going to be believed us or someone employed or subcontracted to the dwp
It's an excellent idea when you speak to them to have a witness then they can't claim you have assaulted them when you haven't!
I remember many years ago when I was in my 20s at a catering job and because I was furious with the line Manager there over not having let me work as a cook, when I went to talk to them I would always bring a witness in so my back was covered and so was theirs in case I got heated and they claimed I had assaulted them!
I would reiterate everyone else's advice: go to the Citizens Advice, they will be able to help you fill the forms in. When I was applying for a blue badge and rang the council for advice, they said to tell them what I was like on my worst day, so remember that. Don't worry that it doesn't sound honest not to tell them about your best days, most illnesses are variable day to day so you are just giving them the information they need to make a proper assessment. By the way, hang on to your dog for as long as possible, it's so good for your health to have a reason to get out for a walk every day, you could even say he/she is essential for your wellbeing. Good luck x
