Hi Kim, great if it has, but maybe it was pollen/ hay fever that caused u to sneeze and feel bunged up. Take care Sonia x

I'm off to buy some :) but I always check with my nurse first (only because she is sooo good in her knowledge of lung diseases and I don't want to muck anything up....) Stay clear of sneezes!!!! Did you know that during the War there were constant leaflets, advertising, lectures, etc., telling us all that we MUST use handkerchiefs and sneeze into them....to prevent people catching germs. Just a shame they don't do that now....everywhere I go people seem to cough/sneeze into the air, or wipe their hand across their nose and mouth and then touch something...yuk!!! Don't suppose the majority of people would know what a handkerchief (hankie) is......just tells you how bloomin' old I am! Stay germ free :)

I did know Cough and Sneezes spread diseases. Funny you should say that when I was out buying the stuff on Tuesday, I sat waiting while my husband took stuff back to the car and one side a woman was smoking and the other a man was sneezing. I'm tempted to buy the mask they have in China for while I'm out.

I always were my mask when I am out. I like to think that it at least cuts down the risk. Rib

Hi Kimmy, I remember years ago, when I was diagnosed with RA, (They changed it later.) I was reading up about Echinacea and it sounded so good, I was considering getting some, but then another article I read said that if you have an autoimmune disease, not to take it because your immune system is already in overdrive and causing your own body to attack itself and this would worsen it.

I never bought it and have never looked it up since. I might have another look at it.

I cant say it actually work but it seems strange, maybe because I caught it early.

They sell pretty masks on ebay but according to a fair bit of checking on Google they can't actually stop the nasty bugs from getting through - a pity as I'd thought I'd use them to defend myself from the countless ignorant selfish idiots who insist on saying, "it's only a cold! " when I point out it may be 'only ' a cold for them, but life threatening for me, the response of many is to laugh! Obviously healthy people really don't 'get it'!

Rant over

Must help a little surely. I know what you mean about selfish people though, I'm lucky with my lot they do understand.

Hi Kim,

I have never tried Echinacea, but have always been meaning to. I have an elderly friend in her eighties who swears by it. One day she phoned me up, and sounded dreadful and choked with the cold, and warned me not to go near her. She said she would be fine by the next day or maybe the following day after that. I did not believe her, but humoured her, and do you know, she was absolutely fine two days later. Her cold had disappeared completely, and so I do think that it can work as quickly as that. Maybe not in all cases as there are so many mutations of the cold virus, but I am definitely going to get some now. I have Vicks First Defence at the ready also, which has worked for me in the past. I will check however with the pharmacist if it is ok to take both. Glad you are feeling better.
