Anyone with severe asthma been given the anti virals?

I have tested positive today, I am on Fasenra injections and currently weaning off prednisolone.

Anyone else in this situation?

yes I have severe asthma am on fasenra and weaned from 40 to 6mg of pred then got Covid in April in and out of A&E then watched at home via virtual ward with my amazing GP. I got the anti virals, they were delivered to me and took them straight away.

Thanks for your reply.t is Saturday so I am not expecting to get then today or tomorrow.

I think you do need to start them straight away so hoping I dont get any worse

who, have you contacted re medication? Being Saturday I would think calling 111 is your best option. Waiting to contact gp or consultant on Monday seems an unnecessary wait.

Yes have called 111 they did call me back, they said they need to email the department regarding medication, so have to wait until someone reads it

hi so yes I have severe asthma and was on same biologics I recorded my positive test via .gov as it stated on email that said what to do if eligible for antivirals or maybe I had to search on . gov can't remember. But I was so scared also emailed GP an they rang explained more and did things there end. By the next day a covid assessment team rang triaged within hours my paxlovid were delivered.

if you haven't heard by morn ring 111 again, make sure you've logged your result as that's what they work with when you send your priority sample off. Good luck. Do breathing exercises.

Thanks, they still haven't called me, feeling rough this morning. I forgot about logging the test will do it now.

How long were you ill?

thats the most important bit or NHS won't make contact it states that in the email and if you Google it. Initial infection about a week but have long covid on top of long covid 🥴 within 24hrs of antivirals symptoms started to go/reduce. So thankful for it

Day 4 now still heard nothing on anti virals. Rang my GP this morning which took ages 20th in queue, expecting a call back this morning

oh no how did you get on? Did you check your original emails and .gov to make sure you've done everything right? I'm sure mine was a weekend but from testing positive to starting paxlovid was less than 24 hours. Do did lateral flow then the urgent test kit NHS sent followed their instructions sent it as priority and logged it on .gov. as that what it states. Then rang GP they also logged it an contacted covid team even though I had already done it just to make sure. Later that day a covid team rang went through questions and meds then asked if I wanted antivirals or not an which ones I could have then a motorbike appeared that night with the drugs! Really couldn't fault them the least helpful was pharmacist triaging made me feel like I shouldn't have antivirals. Having said this I think I may have had covid longer than I initially thought an was no where near as bad as the original strain I had in 2019. This time for me was just like a virus but side affects after. 2019 jeeze was horrific still recovering.

I have been seen now, my doctor saw me as my oxygen was 93 and s soon as I left the surgery armed with antibiotics and more prednisolone someone called me from the Glenfield hospital, so I went there and had the anti virals through a drip. Have to keep an eye on my oxygen as still not very high, On the other hand have had a really good nights sleep so fingers crossed 😀
