Has anyone had Covid recently and found it’s hit them much harder than previous bouts? I’m wondering if it’s because it’s been a year since I was last vaccinated? Currently 2 weeks in, on steroids and think I probably have a chest infection too!

Covid
My sister has had more vaccinations than me, my last one being 11 months ago, whereas hers was in May. But she's currently got covid (her 3rd infection) and has been admitted to hospital. So it still seems to be quite horrible to have. They've prescribed her Ventolin (she's not asthmatic) and that's helping her. She's had it for at least 2 weeks and she's still testing positive and has low oxygen levels. I'd say this bout is almost as bad as the first one, that she had in April 2020.
My first ever bout was in mid June. I felt like celebrating because it was no worse than a cold. I only tested because I felt feverish which is unusual for me. I did however get sinusitis & after a couple of weeks fatigue set in and hasn't lifted yet. My nose is also runny the whole time. Had all the vaccinations and boosters (except this spring's booster as not old enough grrrr). At least this autumn they're lowering the age to 65 - a sure sign that covid is rife imo.
Hope you feel better soon Gymbearo
edit: I believe it's a different strain to previously
I have had all the vaccinations. My last one was in April and had Covid for the 3rd time in June. Almost as bad as the first time in 2022. Hope you feel better soon.
my husband and I were sooo much sicker with this variant than the last two times we had it and I’ve known some other people who’ve said the same. I was totally bedbound for a day and a half (which is a lot for me as I am very type A and used to functioning when feeling unwell!) and it took a good ten days until I was starting to feel over it. It hit my lungs hard too and my stomach and throat and head.
Sorry you’ve been so sick and keep us posted on how you’re doing.
Well I've had covid 3 times with it feeling no more than a bad cold and I've not had the vaccine once, my running became a little more difficult but last week I ran 40 mins on thd running machine for the first time in my life.I'm 51 and take 6 puffs of fostair 100/6 and Montelukast
I've never felt better in my life health wise
I think the variant that's going round at the moment is particularly vicious.
definitely found this variant affected chest and asthma
Had Covid again, this seemed worse than last time. I had a really high temperature, fuzzy head then very chesty and productive cough. Felt extremely tired for 2 weeks. Constantly falling asleep trying to watch the Olympics but I won a gold medal for lying on the sofa for so long. I just took paracetamol and rested, couldn’t really do anything else.
