I’m relieved to see that I’m not alone with battling a flare up for one month plus. I’ve had occasional asthma since the age of 18, I’m now 50. I sometimes go years without any problems. I believe my recent summer long struggle is to do mold exposire when moving things out of an old house that has been shut up for a couple years. I’ve never experienced a flare up like this! I do NOT like inhalers. I will use if desperate but I wanted to share that I find drinking Mullein tea with raw honey has really helped me. I also take curcamin, vitamin c, vitamin d3, liver detox (helps lower histamine levels once your liver is detoxed), probiotic, oregano oil and garlic, and magnesium with calcium. I do this twice a day. I also find massage helpful to relax the bronchials. Symbicort made me full breath better but FULL of anxiety. The rescue inhaler will make your voice hoarse sometimes so make sure to immediately rinse your mouth with water and gargle after use. I currently had to surcome to taking prednisone for a few days to try to gain control of my asthma before flying this week. I notice my voice is different on prednisone? Anyone else? Also has anyone had trouble flying during a flare up? Thank you

If homeopathic remedies work for you, that’s good, but there is no scientific evidence they work for the general public.
I use a combination of traditional and non traditional approaches to fighting asthma. The approach works for me so I’m simply sharing. If you read through the posts you will see that many many people suffer from side effects from inhalers. Anxiety, hoarseness, sleeplessness, etc. I’m just sharing what’s worked for me in supporting asthma relief. In no way do I suggest stopping medication if it helps anyone. Spraying solverign silver in the back of your throat helps immensely with throat irritation caused by inhalers. Mullein tea or ginger tea with raw honey before bed also really give me comfort. The relief it gives me is the only evidence I need.
Hi Wags, did you see a qualified alternative medicine practioner? In the past I have tried alternative things like supplements for another illness which I suffer from. Not all are without side effects and some you have to be careful of dosage and not mixing with certain drugs. One herb I was given by a non-qualified therapist left me doubled over in pain! However some supplements seemed to help over time.
It is good when you find what works for you and is as safe as possible.
Yes, my ND is credentialed and also is a board certified nutritionist. Eliminating trigger foods (inflammatory foods) really helped me a lot. My ND does not prescribed herbs for me. He does review my lab work from my GP and tests me against vitamin supplements to suggest what dose my body needs. My lab work was pretty normal with the exception that it showed a significant deficit of vitamin D. I’m very fortunate that my GP and my ND respect each other and work toward an integrated approach. The only herb I take is mullein which I make tea out of in my French press. I add some local raw honey. It’s delicious and eases my airways. I’m sorry you had issues with herbs! That sounds awlful! Best of luck to you on your journey✨ We all fight our own battles!
