I was diagnosed 3 months ago with polymyalgia. However, my blood tests showed my inflammation levels to be normal. The steroids (20 mg) to start, worked perfectly. I am now down to (10mg) and everything seems to be good. Has anyone similar experiences and did it turn out to be polymyalgia? I know it is difficult to diagnose and could be something else. How do the steroids work to alleviate the pain caused by inflammation when my inflammation levels were normal?

I have PMR too- I suggest that you look for the PMRGCAUK site on Healthunlocked where you can get all your questions answered from very knowledgeable people!
Briefly, about 25% of PMR sufferers don't have raised CRP or ESR levels, so you are not alone. You also seem to have reduced your Pred. pretty quickly- watch out for any symptoms returning and don't reduce too much too soon.
Thank you, Suzy, for your useful response. I will look for the site you recommend
