Psoriasis flare after taking Astorvastatin

Hi all

Just reaching out as after starting a cholesterol tablet my Psoriasis which has been at bay for a long time as I’m on methotrexate and Cosentyx for a long time has come back severely on my scalp.

I’m really struggling with the itching and am losing sleep as it’s keeping me up.

has anyone experienced anything similar and have any ideas of how to reverse the reaction. I have come of the tablet and have started another but the reaction has remained.

I do sympathise! My husband and daughter have psoriasis. H is on a statin and has been for some time, and it hasn’t affected his psoriasis in any way - except it might be a little bit better.

Hi thanks for your reply, do you know which statin, I think to be honest i was prescribed the wrong one as there seems to be some research on Astorvastatin and psoriasis. Wish the Gps would check closely before prescribing. I feel know unless i change my biologic its not going to clear and i'll be left with it.

He’s on atorvastatin.
