Hello all!

I’m writing on here to ask people’s opinion about trapeze hand surgery or any other wrist / hand surgery for arthritis!

I’ve been referred for surgery but not sure how good the outcome could be!!

So would appreciate if anyone can tell me of their experience or anything they know about this kind of surgery! Thank you

Thank you so much for your reply! I’m sorry you’re having what seems to be the same problem as me!

I’ve got appointment to see the specialist next week and hopefully by then I may have some more insight as what option would be best for me!

I was hoping before my appointment I may get to hear people’s opinions and experiences on here! But unfortunately nothing as yet!

Well I’ll see what the specialist has to say and suggest! Hope you too find the answers you’re looking for!!

Sending you good wishes and best of luck if you decide to have surgery! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I had this surgery about 5 years ago and I am so glad I did. Although I have limited movement in my hand, I don't have any pain at all. The recovery period was about 6 weeks for me - lots of hand exercises etc, but well worth it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do

Thank you very much for your reply! Glad you’ve had a good outcome! Would you mind saying what limitations you have and is that as a result of the operation? Thanks again x

Hello. When I said movement was limited I meant that I can't do things like unscrewing caps on bottles or use a key to open the front door. I occasionally drop things, but this is no different from before the operation. Anyway I can use my other hand instead.

I also had carpel tunnel and trigger finger operated on at the same time which maybe why I still have difficulty with certain movements now.

Hope that helps!
