I am 46 and have Osteoarthritis in knees and they hurt all the time. I have had steroid injections in both but it hasn't helped. I am on Citalopram for depression. I feel like everything is a struggle.
The doctor has given me painkillers for my knee and told me to exercise.
Any advice to help the pain.

I have thought about complimentary therapy and have tried Reiki at a mind body spirit event and have found it very relaxing and I am wearing a magnetic bracelet to see if that helps.
I'm not sure about Acupunture but I will look into it.
Hi Brenda, no two people seem to have the same problem or a cure. When I went into retirement I started to get painful knees, where, when I climbed stairs, the tendons on either side of my knee would become painful and I needed support of the banisters to go up and down. In 2012, I was reading an article on a web site for a company called North Star Nutritionals, from whom I was also buying other products, and the article, web site below, explained the use of their product called SYNERFLEX.
I started using the product in late 2014 and within a matter of three weeks all the pain in my knees had disappeared, and I was able to climb up and down stairs without the need to hang onto the banister. When I looked at the ingredients the main one was 60% HYALURONIC ACID. As obtaining anything from overseas becomes a pain with local Customs, like V.A.T. + £8 admin charge, it would be far more sense if I could obtain a similar product here in the UK. This I have been able to do from a company called “Simply Supplements” simplysupplements.net/produ... which costs for a 90 day supply £26.50. This product has proved to be as good as Synerflex. I have been taking 100mg each morning now for over two years and getting good results.
Thank you for this info. This supplement sounds wonderful and then I checked the list of ingredients and found it contains Maltodextrin. Not good if you have an allergy to it as some people including myself do. Such a shame as it doesn't need to be in there. Still a possibility for many though.
I am 57years old and have had very painful OA in both knees for a couple of years and more recently in the right hip (which is worse by the way!) I had some very successful steroid injections initially , but they are not helping now. No other painkillers do anything . I had to talk my GP into referring me to the pain clinic, but, when I did they suggested Genicular Radiofrequency treatment which effectively burns off some of the nerves to reduce the pain. I am having the first injections on 13th July and hopeful that they may make a difference until I can have knee replacements, as I have to have the hip replacement first.
I do sympathise regarding the pain- it is unrelenting and has affected my mobility badly.
