Hello. im looking for advise but i think im going to end up making a bold decision. i started a course in 2014 which im struggling to finish. In 2015 my arthritis symptoms began to worsen and im now juggling a full time job and family also. Im not sure if it might be easier for my health to give up my course or job. I need something to give, more of a balance. I havent told my work about the arthritis or anything im thinking.

Hi Lizaw, Of course I don't know anything about your financial situation but I really think you should give up either the course or the job. I have osteoarthritis and know that you can't just 'work through it'. I tried to do that last year and now o/a has really taken over my life. I had no idea it would develop as quickly as it has in my case. Of course, not everyone is the same and I hope you carry on as you want to for as long as possible but (a) not being stressed helps, (b) meditation (in my case) helps, and (c) having a good balance of rest and gentle exercise helps. Being anxious about your situation will not help. I wish you well, and hope you come to the decision that suits you. x

Hi Lizaw

The decision you are going to make is a difficult one. I used to feel people will think I'm awful if I don't complete something but with my health getting worse I only consider myself in these decisions these days. The day will come when you will have to tell them in work about your Arthritis. If they are supportive employers hopefully they will make things as easy for you as possible.

Your health is in your hands and I really do believe that in work situations we are all only statistics we are all disposable. You probably need to keep your job for financial reasons i would try and hold on to it. It may happen in the future that you have to work less or get time off for hospital appointments if they knew your situation it might be helpful.

All the best with your decision. Gently hugs coming your way.
