I have very bad health anxiety and used to take citalopram which i stopped taking last year as i felt ok.
I felt so unwell when i first started the anti depressants that it has put me off going back on it again.
Has anyone tried st johns wort?

Hi Calsie
Yes, I have tried St john's Wort - i found it helpful - it's not a "quick fix" and it isn't as strong as the anti-depressants you'll get at the doctor's, but it doesn't have the side effects either, and it can help. My only problem was i found my ankles swelling - but I was in late middle age then, doubt if it would have that effect on a younger person. But yes, it definitely can help - I believe in Germany it's available on prescription, although sadly not here. So give it a go!
hope this helps

I've heard this is good, not tried it as it affects your contraceptive pill. X
I hav bin on st johns wort b4 i went on citlopram + it does work as i had pretty bad depression, u can but only give it a try. I dont tend to b in2 a lot of alterative medicines but i do blieve in this 1. like som1 had suggested camomile tea but it doesn do anythin 4 me as does non of the meds im on. In fact i blieve that theres no help 4 me wot so ever + dont know which way 2 turn.
Yep, beware the interactions with medications, But alone, does a fabulous job of lessening stress levels. Give it 4 weeks to kick in in my opinion...
